I'm so bored. Really.  I won't ask if it gets better because I plan to finish, but OMG.  I was excited, but it's just not good at the moment.  I think it's too bogged down with the GD vs. GP.  I know conflict between Tris and Tobias (JUST CALL HIM FOUR ALREADY) helps a little, but I'm kind of sick of a book and a half of them at odds with each other.

Is anyone else having trouble switching between Tris and Four's POV? I'll get through a page or so and realize I'm reading from the wrong perspective.

  • Yep, these were my issues too.  She didn't do enough to differentiate their voices when writing from the other person's POV.  I was constantly flipping back to remember who the hell's perspective I was supposed to be reading from!  And so many freakin characters that serve no purpose other than to move the plot along.  Disappointing.

  • Yes, I often found myself flipping back to see which POV I was reading. Their voices were just too similar.

  • Totally agree. Too many characters, not enough distinction between the voices. If you're not going to put the effort in to change it up, at least use a different font or something.

Yes, yes, a million times YES.

And yes, the switching back and forth was awful and confusing and bad.

  • I had the same issues with the beginning. Also, what was with the witty banter between Tris and Four near the beginning? Tris and Four are so not witty banter people. I felt like I wasn't even reading the same series I started. However, I just finished last night and the end really wowed me. There may still be a light at the end of the tunnel for you too.

  • I hated the switching POVs. And I did not like Tris&Tobias in this book. At all.

  • I hate that I keep finding reasons not to read.  I still have 250ish pages and laundry sounds more appealing than reading this book.

  • I am flying through this one just as fast as I read the first two.  I don't seem to be having the issues that everyone else has with it.  I started it this morning and I have about 1/4 of the book left to read.
