Um...Orgasmic Birth - link in post

Just read about this on TB.  Click on the link and read the second story.  The part I found the most...um...surprising (?) was her getting an anal massage from the doula.

  • There was absolutely nothing orgasmic about G's birth.  Must be nice...

  • No thank you! Not that I want to think of the pain, but I would be highly uncomfortable with any of their methods.. And there is nothing orgasmic about birth, nor do I want DH massaging my lady parts or nipples. but that's just me.. glad it worked for them

The only think I might find interesting is the electric stimulation to the back. I have had that before from the chiropractor and it really helped relax my muscles immensely. After DS putting so much pressure on my rectum and lower back, that might be something that could help me cope with that if it were to happen again this time.

  • I, umm.. I am just going to stick with my epi.

  • I've read about this. I don't think it happens often, and I haven't heard about too many women actively planning for it, but orgasmic births are definitely a thing.

Most of the time women don't talk about it though because people respond negatively and they feel shame.

  • I've also heard of orgasmic births, but not anal massages!

  • Wow...I have heard of this before but I didn't know women actually planned it this way! To each her own I guess...

  • I watched a special on TLC or Discovery health or something like 3 years ago about "strange" births and the only one I remember is the orgasmic birth.

  • Giving birth to Adalyn felt good in the sense that it was a huge relief of pain/pressure, but it was nowhere near orgasmic. Lol

Yeah.....I had a fantastic birth experience at the hospital with my epi so I think I will just stick with that if we have another. I think I'd be more uncomfortable with the options mentioned in the article actually but as others have said, to each their own.

  • I can see why it would be a choice for some women; orgasm and birth involve some of the same hormones and an orgasm contracts your uterus. I've been told many times to have sex to induce labor for the same reasons, I don't see why it's such a big issue - it's just an orgasm.

  • @ashleymatt1215 the lady on the show I watched said it was so much more than just an orgasm. That it was the best feeling in her entire life and if she was okay with having a ton of kids she would get pregnant all the time just to experience it more.

For me I was just like wow, lucky for her!

I don't think it's an issue at all, and related to what lilliesandvino said, I don't think they should feel ashamed.  I just can't even imagine.
