I want your crockpot recipes.

And I want 'em now. :)

I'm thinking I may bust out ye ole crockpot in the near future and I want some tried and true recipes to try. I have a great roast recipe, and an awesome fauxtisserie chicken recipe, but that's about all I ever do in the crockpot. Healthy(ish) stuff is definitely preferred but I'll take any suggestions! The only exception being anything with fish *gag*. I'm not sure you could do fish in a crock pot anyway, thank goodness. ;)

Gracias!

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

Re: I want your crockpot recipes.

  • I have a really good one that involves dark Belgian beer....I'll dig it out later when I'm at home and post it up here ;)
  • My all-time favorite one is BBQ Ribs:

1 pkg ribs (any cut and style, about 2lbs worth)
    1 C ketchup
    1/4 C Brown Sugar
    1 T Mustard
3 T Liquid Smoke (found in the BBQ aisle)
    3 T Worcestershire sauce
    1 small can Tomato paste
    Salt & Pepper to taste

Mix all sauce ingredients together and pour over ribs in crockpot. Cook on low for 8 hrs or high for 4.

    Chicken Tacos:

Frozen or fresh chicken breasts (4-6 of them)
1 jar of Corn, Black Bean Salsa
    Taco shells
    Taco toppings

Pour Corn, Black Bean Salsa on top of chicken breasts. Cook for 6-8 hours on low. Shred and put on taco shells. Top with usual taco toppings

    Shredded BBQ

    3lb Pork Roast
    12oz can Rootbeer
    BBQ Sauce

Pour rootbeer over roast and cook on low for 8 hrs or high for 4 hrs.
Drain juices from crockpot. Reserve about 1 cup of juice.
Shred roast and add BBQ and reserved juice. About 50/50 amounts.
Let cook on high for 30 minutes to soak in the flavors.

    Serve on buns.

What is my favorite things to do the crockpot chicken or pork with salsa Verde on it. just cook all day, shred, and then turn into tacos or tostadas. Boring you can take chicken red salsa black beans and corn and throw them all into the crockpot cooking all day and I call it salsa chicken. Or pork with Apple cider vinegar, sliced onions, brown sugar, barbecue sauce and Salt, pepper, mustard, and worsteshire sauce to taste. Cook all day, take out and shred. Add BBQ sauce and serve on buns for pulled pork sandwiches.

  • @brij2006 I do the shredded BBQ too! It's so good.

This is another of my favorites... It's amazing. I know the recipe is on the stove, but I just put the raw meatballs and sauce in the crockpot and let it go on low all day while I'm at work. http://www.food.com/recipe/authentic-italian-meatballs-92095

  • @brij2006 it's amazing. Trust me. I served it with pineapple quinoa the last time. But you could just do rice or sandwiches. Anything really, it's Hawaiian pulled pork basically. We also do our chili in the crockpot for 18-24 hours, works great!

  • When I do pulled pork it is fork tender in 8 hours.  Like literally falls apart.  I'd be afraid to see what happens in 24 hours!  I think my crock pot may be a little hotter than the norm too, though.
    No Siggy

  • I am going to steal ALL of these!!!  :)  Thanks!  I'll find one of mine and come back.  I don't do the crock pot much.  I need to start...

  • @destination09 it would be pull apart at 8 hours, but for the Kahula pork the extra time really brings in the flavors of the salt and smoke. Trust me ladies!

    1 can chicken broth
    1 small can tomato sauce
    1 can corn
    1 can black beans
    1 can pinto beans
    1 packet of taco seasoning
Cook all day, top with tortilla chips

  • I love the salsa chicken recipe's.  It's delicious.  Here are two more:

    Buffalo Chicken
    :
    2-4lbs of chicken
1 jar Franks Buffalo Wing Sauce (or any other that you prefer)
    1 packet of Ranch seasoning
    2 Tb cream cheese

Place first three ingredients into crock pot on low for 6-8 hours.  Shred shicken, stir in cream cheese.

We make chicken taco's, sandwiches, as a dip w/ celery, so many ways to eat it. YUM!

Meatballs: (I serve this at parties and there is never any left!)
    2 x bottles chili sauce
    1/2 cup ketchup
    1/2 cup grape jelly
3 cups brown sugar (light or dark)
    1 onion chopped fine
    2 tsp lemon juice

Mix all this in a crock pot and heat on high for 1 hr. Then add frozen meatballs (Italian or Swedish) and heat for another 2-4 hours on med.

They will sustain 1 time going to the fridge and reheating the next day. After that it turns to mush if you try to refrigerate again and reheat.
