This sounds stupid, but I need yo vent...I decided to let the children bring their Halloween costumes to school today for our party. Not sure what I was thinking.

Anyway, in 2 different notes, I told the parents to put the costumes in a bag with the child's name AND to leave accessories at home. I don't want to chance the smaller things getting lost, broken or mixed up with other children. I have 26 children and have already heard of 4 sets if duplicate costumes. So far this morning out of of 8 costumes, 4 people have not followed the directions/ done what they want/ not cared.
I feel like I have more problems getting adults to listen and follow directions then children.
Re: Why do I bother?
People are idiots. I'm really sorry
My mom was a toddler teacher for 27 years. She always said that her biggest complaint about her job was the parents.
I am the first parent to admit I'm disconnected from my kid in the classroom... But I do read all of the notes that come home. D got upset with me a couple of weeks ago because I read the note & some other parent didn't & his friend had something or wore something he shouldn't have.
boy (n): a noise with dirt on it
Ok, so most of the non listeners are in the early morning. Our party is over and overall it went good.
I had 6 total bring things they weren't supposed to bring. And it might of been because they sent the costume in the bag they bought it in and never bothered to take the stuff out. I just left the things in the bags. @phanatic, that was the problem. 2 girls were DocMcStuffins and one brought the stethoscope. the mom said well, I told her to keep in in the coat pocket. But why is that fair to the one whose parent didn't send it?
Although, I have found that the parents who are on the ball and follow directions are usually the parents of the students who do the same.
