when do you mealplan

I know there are posts for menus for the week and stuff...but I was just curious when you actually meal plan? I used to on saturdays and then grocery shop on sundays. Since having LO though I've been meal planning on tuesdays and shopping wednesday.

The day I actually go grocery shopping is when I plan and make my list. Usually Friday but when I'm working my schedule varies.

I try to make a list throughout the week of things we come across that we need to re-stock on.

Then on Wednesday night/Thursday morning I browse the sale ads to see what ingredients are on sale that I can use in certain recipes. Then I plan my meals around those sales.

I do an entire month of meal planning at a time, so I might just sit down at one point the month before and do it.

I used to have a meal plan sent to me weekly (e-meals). We always got great meals from it, but we opted to stop doing it because it was $21/quarter. Yeah, that's cheap, but it's something I can do myself. I need to get back to it.

I'd definitely recommend e-meals, though. Their menus are great and they have a ton of different options as far as low fat, low carb, Wal-Mart, Gluten free, etc. http://emeals.com/

@JennaHack, I plan one or two "bigger meals" a week that we can eat as left overs for one night, and then the rest are "easy" meals like breakfast or sandwiches and soup. I also plan by similar ingredients each week.

The store where we shop doesn't take coupons, and rarely has sales, so I don't have to worry about checking fliers, and we get our meat at the beginning of the month at BJs.

We haven't gone out to eat in a couple months, and we don't do midweek shopping.

Sunday morning, and then I shop the same day. I'm not good at planning for more than a week, but even doing that much has really helped with our grocery bill.

I meal plan for the month before we go grocery shopping. Then I meal plan again Sunday night for the week based on what is in the cupboards/freezer.

I make a list of meals for the month. The fresh stuff gets eaten right away and the freezer meals are for the end of the month.

I meal plan about an hour before I get off work most days.. I usually have no idea what I want.. DH goes nuts over this lack of planning. But he is one that likes everything in order..

I don't have a day. I just do it as we run out of groceries. I find that I used to g. shop once a week but now I sort of do it every ten days (but there are a few trips for one off things in there). Because I find that those extra three days allow us to eat things that are still in the freezer or pantry and think about eating things just lying around.

But I tend to meal plan just before going to grocery shopping as I am making my list and then get around to grocery shopping about 2 days after. LOL

I usually try to sit down and meal plan a day or two before going to the grocery store. I usually shop on the weekends during the school year but during the summer I go whenever I feel like it.
