NT scan

I'm totally freaked out to have this done. I know its just bloodwork and an ultrasound but I can't get over my fear that since we by a miracle naturally got pregnant that something will go wrong for us. I'm still waiting for the ball to drop.

and i'm so scared.

talk me down. at my next appt. i'm supposed to schedule it.

Re: NT scan

  • Trust me, I was super scared too!  But I went and got to see the baby on the u/s was which awesome!  Except that mine cooperated and turned over right away, so my u/s was short!  And then they only took one vial of blood from me.  Just seeing that the neck measurement was fine comforted me a lot and then getting the bloodwork results was even more reassuring.  I kept thinking that it took so long to get pregnant, so something must be wrong.  But so far so good.  I know it will be for you too!

  • my counselor has told me a million times I just need to have faith because nothing so far has indicated any sort of issue and we've been seeing the baby every week. its just so hard sometimes.
  • Even though I have had three great u/s and a great NT scan, I still worry that something will happen.  I think it's something that's hard to get over.

Then again, you don't have to do the NT scan if you would prefer to skip it.  I don't know which one would make you feel better!

  • I know how you feel. I haven't decided if we are doing the NT scan yet or not. I have more questions about it for my doctor but right now we are leaning towards declining it.

Like you said, try to reassure yourself that everything has been going well so far!

  • I know how you feel - we never expected to get pregnant naturally either, and there's this constant feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop, especially in the beginning.  But just try to keep thinking positive thoughts, and like others have said, remind yourself how well things have gone so far!!

  • I think everyone feels this way. I remember feeling nervous even toward the end of pregnancy that even though everything had been perfect, something would all of a sudden go wrong. Welcome to the world of being a mommy. We all worry. ;)

This is exactly where my head is right now. I am not nervous about birth but I am so nervous about making sure he's healthy.

Passing each milestone is comforting but being anxious is unfortunately just part of the process mama!

Everything will be great, I'm sure. :)
