TGIFriday!

Happy Friday! What does everyone have going on this weekend? Any good Halloween experiences last night?

No plans that I know of. DH heads out of town for work next Wednesday for a few days, so I'll probably cook ahead for the week for me, and help get his stuff organized and packed.

Halloween turned out really fun! It was our first Halloween in our new house so we weren't too sure what to expect. We got tons of trick or treaters despite the rain and crappy weather. The puppy did fantastic with all of the kids and doorbell ringing. We even had a few kids say how awesome of a dog he was and that they wanted to take him home. :)

Re: TGIFriday!

  • I'm going to my parents house for the weekend. I'm taking ds all by myself there so I'm a little nervous. DH is going hunting this weekend. We didn't do much for Halloween. I worked until 9 last night and it was rainy here.
  • Trick or Treating got rescheduled for tonight in our area due to the storms.  So, I'll pass out candy tonight.  I'm not sure how many trick or treaters to expect...we live in a huge neighborhood, and their's an apartment complex across the street as well.  SIL is bringing her daughter over to go trick or treating.

Other than that...we don't have much going on.  I'll go to the gym this weekend.  DH closes Saturday and Sunday.

We walked out to the garage last night, and we have a leak somewhere.  There's now a small hole in the ceiling, a huge water spot, and water was dripping in.  So, we need to get someone out to look at it...I'm sure it's from all the rain, so that's sucky :(

  • Like athlete said, trick or treating was postponed for us until tonight too.  And I just found out that DH's friend who's in the military, who we haven't seen in probably 3 years, is going to stop by.  He was supposed to be a groomsman in our wedding, but wasn't able to take leave for our wedding.  Unfortunately, it wasn't a planned trip home - he had to rush home because his dad needed open heart surgery.  But he's doing okay now.

The rest of the weekend, I don't think we have much planned!  Which is nice because we have to travel next weekend for a wedding.

  • We got about 60 kids last night and I had the greatest interaction with Batman:

Me: Do you want some candy?
Batman (standing a few feet away from the door with a half full bucket): No, I have candy.
Me: Do you want some more?
    Batman: No
Batman's mom: You don't want any more candy? You have enough already?
    Batman: Yes, I have enough.

    Wow - just wow!

  • One of my former co-workers is also leaving my old company and today is her last day, so tonight I'm meeting her and a bunch of old co-workers for drinks/appetizers.

Tomorrow evening I have a birthday party/girl's night. Sunday I have my regular volunteer shift and then dinner at the in-law's. We are FINALLY doing mine and DH's birthday celebration. Our birthdays are both in early July... I mean, WTF? Why did it take 4 months?! But I like presents, so I'll keep my mouth shut! ;)

Otherwise, laundry, cleaning, tv watching and vegging.

  • Tonight we're going to dinner at our favorite Vietnamese place, which is doing a customer appreciation buffet. They always remember us by name and the pho is so good. Tomorrow we have a football watching day, and H is making paleo chili. Should be good, but then tomorrow night we're going to hang out with his mom and her boyfriend at their new house. Long story short: She is crazy, and her bf is H's dad's ex-best friend. All the families found out about their 14-year-long affair at a family vacation the two couples (and their kids) were taking together. AWKWARD! Anyway, Sunday is H's dad's birthday so we'll go over there for lunch after we clean up the leaves and stuff in the yard. Don't forgot to set your clocks back! Extra hour of sleep makes me happy.

  • Halloween turned out great. The forecast initially called for buckets of rain but htat stopped aroun 4pm. The kiddo's costume was a huge success. He absolutely loves the alphabet and his favorite color is red. Despite all of our real costume suggestions, he wanted to the "the red letter A" in the worst way for like the past month. So I found some alphabet fabric and made some pants and sewed a giant red letter A out of felt onto a tshirt. To make it more costumey, I found a cat mask and some red felt letter A stickers and stuck them onto the ears. He wore it allnight I was so happy. It literally took me 5 nights of handsewing to make everything. You guys, I don't even know how to sew so it was a Halloween miracle.

  • Awww, he is so cute Zero!

We're going to H's boss' Halloween party tonight. We will be minions! I have to remember to get a picture. We have friends staying with us for the weekend too but they just headed out to a hockey game since we already RSVPed for the party.
