  • I enjoyed it! I loved finally knowing how the dystopian got that way. Not as much action but my nerd side loved it.

I didn't like the changing of point of view... They were written too similar and if I stopped reading mid chapter I always assumed it was tris voice until it said other wise.

I HATE TRIS DIED! I was holding out hope she wasn't really dead... I was so mad. Idk I didn't see it coming, she only mentioned the sacrifice for love once. I really thought Tobias was going to reset him self. Love Christina! I'm glad they got close.

I guess I'm confused about the gd vs gp. Did someone alter genes to cause the divide? Then they tried to fix it?

I liked the end when Tobias said life damages us, but we can recover.

  • I agree with the lack of action. Halfway through the book I was thinking "this is good, but it's slow!!" After the other two, I expected more action from it.

I didn't have much opinion on them changing character view points, but I did the same thing you did. I'd forget sometimes who was talking, and I'd just assume it was Tris.

I wasn't happy about Tris dying either, but I also wasn't completely shocked by it. I hated that it was from a gunshot wound after she survived the death serum, though! She was some kind of beast! I never really thought Tobias would reset himself...I think Christina needs to! haha. I really like her too, but @Seipel12 and I discussed that the poor girl is like the grim reaper! Everyone she meets dies!

I didn't get what happened to cause the GD vs. GP difference either!! I wanted more closure for the future, more explanation. They made such a big deal over it and then there were what, 10 pages saying, oh, everyone was confused and now they're happy, the end.

I was happy to learn more about the experiments thought.  But I think people were expecting ACTION ACTION ACTION, like the other ones.

OMG Christina IS a grim reaper!  But surprisingly, she got through it better than Tobias did.  Maybe because of her Cantor background she's used to expressing her feelings then bottle it up like Abnegnation/Dautless.

Ugh, I can't believe ALL the times Tris got shot, ALL the crazy shit she does... a man in a wheel chair takes her out.  I thought maybe he'd have a change of heart since he loved her mom... like Snape (HA!  Every book convo needs a HP reference).

I NEED MORE ANSWERS!  How is the Government even ok with this rogue section of the US?!

In my head, someone or ones was trying to make humans better with genetics and it went wrong.  They said the bureau people resisted the change, and they were still "pure".  Then they started this big campaign against the GD.  Propaganda / segregation got out of hand and started the Purity wars.  Then they did this experiment to get people to go back to normal.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one that got confused with the changing POV.  I kept thinking I was in a Tris chapter.

I saw something Veronica Roth had said in an interview about how she had wished Harry Potter had died for real at the end of the series.  She said something about it making him the ultimate hero or something.  So I went into reading this book thinking she may kill of Tris or Tobias.  When Tris died it still totally shocked me.  I wish Tris had lived, but I always like when authors do something that you don't expect.

I think the GP and GD thing was that someone tried to tamper with genetics and created the GDs and the GPs are after generations of "breeding" the genetics having straightened themselves out.  So the experiments where technically a breeding program for GPs.  That's at least how I took it.

I wish there had been more action in the book for sure.  I'm satisfied this the ending.  I wish there was more explanation as to how they were able to wash the memories of all the scientists in the Chicago experiment and the main government is just ok with this?!  That aside I am satisfied with it.  It wasn't perfect and there are some unbelievable things in it, but you know what, zombies and vampires aren't realistic and I love stories about them.

    How many stars?

  • I'm still not done, but I'm determined to finish today or tomorrow!!! I will read the rest of this post then :)
