Any "bigger" moms out there baby wear?

I realize I am not a super active poster, but was wondering if any of the plus size mommies out there have baby worn? What kind of carrier do you recommend? I was thinking of registering for the Ergo carrier but was not sure if there was was better one for us bigger ladies?

  • I don't have an answer to your question, but I know that I've seen them on display and so maybe you could go try one on in the store?
  • The Ergo sells a separate extender and I use that!! :)

  • I think Ergo has a model (Performance, maybe) that has longer straps to begin with.  You'd have to double check on that.  I know Katie mentioned the extender.  I LOVE my Ergo and highly recommend it to anyone.

  • I do. Right now we use the Bjorn because I am not very good at using the infant insert with the ergo. We have the ergo, it is comfortable. I am looking forward to using it more when he is older.

  • I have a boba carrier and love it! It fits with plenty of room. Also it can be converted to use with a newborn. Let me know if you want to meet up and check mine out. Becky has one too.

  • I use the ergo performance for when they're a bit bigger and yes it does have longer straps than the original so no need for the extenders. I also highly recommend a Mei tai for when they are smaller. I have this one and love it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005C9ODQ6/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1383339634&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

  • I have heard excellent things about ergos, so that sounds like a good option.

I have the K'Tan. I am a large in shirts and have the medium in the K'Tan, so I don't know if that helps determine if they have the right size for you. They also have a sizing chart. I love it though for how little she is. I feel like it holds her really securely to me.

  • There was a larger woman using a ring sling at my library group. She wore it every week.

  • I am not a small woman and I LOVE my boba- right from newborn to now! I also recently made myself a hip carrier that I love now that he's bigger.

  • It's a little pricier than the ergo, but I'd go for a kinderpack. I love ours. Super sturdy and has a great resale value. They come in standard, petite, and plus size straps and the body is infant, standard, toddler, and preschool. She has some amazing prints too. I'm 5'6" and very busty and my husband is 6'4" and very lean, and we share it with minimal adjustments. You won't be disappointed!

  • Wraps, ring slings, boba, and kinderpacks are all great options for you.  There are plenty of plus size mamas in my local baby wearing group!  Message me (here or FB) if you have any baby wearing questions. :)

  • Hi love!! I've been thinking about you! I think you, me, @tinytrex, and @sayruh need to get together soon!! I wear P a lot in the boba. I would absolutely not get a Bjorn. Horrible for her hips.
