WWYD?

Background info: DH's first name starts with an 'A,' mine starts with a 'K,' and our last name starts with an 'E.'

I just had a belated wedding gift delivered to us. After the guy left, I opened it. There were about 6 towels and another gift that was wrapped. The first towel I saw had an 'E' on it which made me pretty happy because 'E's' are pretty hard to find if you are in like BB&B and stores like that. I think the next one had an 'E' also. But the one after that had an 'M' and so did the one after that. I thought maybe they had been bought on accident. Perhaps the 'M's' were put with the 'E's' somehow and didn't noticed when they bought. Then I opened the wrapped gift. It was a cute little plaque...which had an 'M' on it.

Would you guys just let it go or ask if it was given by mistake? I know there was another couple in our neighborhood that got married a few months after us with the last name starting with 'M' so maybe it was suppose to go to them?

Re: WWYD?

  • What is your relationship with the person that gave the gift?  Was it hand delivered to you or did you mean UPS/USPS/FedEx delivered it?

  • I would probably just let it go. Send a thank you note and be done with it.
  • @LooneyLife It was hand delivered. We are just friends. I kind of grew up with their daughter and DH works opposite shift of the guy.

@BruinsBabe33 that was what I was thinking, thanks!

  • I am bad at asking people about mess ups with gifts. I feel really awkward getting gifts to begin with so really I am no help lol!
  • I'm awkward, too! We didn't do a gift registry just because I don't like asking for stuff. I didn't have a bridal shower for that sake and I've already made up my mind that I won't have a baby shower because of that. It sounds so rude to me, but hey, if it floats your boat... :)

  • Yeah I wouldn't mention it either. It would probably just end up making them feel bad. Just send a thank you note and move on. :)

  • As pp mentioned, I would just carry on. It was probably a mistake and asking about it would make him awkward. Also, if he doesn't know your name, it could get awkward for you lol. Thanks. Put it in the back of your linen closet.
