Do you like it/Is it worth it? Which plan do you have?

What do you use to listen? What is the deal with the extra credits I see you guys talk about?

I love it. Do you have an android phone? That's how I listen and it has completely replaced my iPod because now I can have all of my music and audibooks right on my phone.

The audible app for android is super user friendly. I don't know if there's one for the iPhone, but I would assume so. I have the 1 credit per monthly plan for $13.95 or something like that. 1 credit = 1 book. So I basically get one book a month and as an Audible member you get something like 20% off the price of any additional books. They also frequently run sales so if you listen to more than one a month it's still not super expensive. I've also bought several Whispersync books recently when adding narration was only $1.99 or $3.99. It's cool to be able to switch back and forth seamlessly between my Kindle book and Audible book.

I do have a caveat though. It was a gigantic pain in my ass when I listened via iPod. I had an older model and Audible's support staff weren't very knowledgeable about which version I'd need to download for my iPod and several times told me the wrong thing so I'd go on a road trip thinking I had something to listen to for 12 hours and it turned out to be an incompatible file. This was pre-Amazon ownership though and this may be remedied, but it sucked at the time and I almost cancelled before I got a new phone and tried listening that way.

The other downside is that like ebooks, you don't really own the books, just the rights to listen to them. You can listen and have access to them as long as you're an Audible member, but if you cancel your membership you don't have access again unless you restart it. Sucky, but I listen enough to make my membership worth I guess.

My mom and I share the 2 books for $22.95 a month. We LOVE it. Audible also frequently offers sales on credits, (1 book=1 credit for the most part, some longer books are 2 credits) BOGO sales, they have daily deals ranging from $2-$5.

I listen on my ipod and have never had any issues like j*&p* described and I had my own membership before I started sharing one with my mom and I still have access to those books.

I used to have audible but I canceled it when I got all the books I wanted.

There IS an iPhone app because that's what I mostly used before getting my Android phone. I think Jessica's issue is maybe a fluke because I still have complete access to my library. As long as you don't completely get rid of your account (just cancel subscription), you will always have access to your download library.

I have about 20 audiobooks through them and canceled my subscription right after Mockingjay came out. I recommend it!

That's good to know that you can still access your books after you cancel the subscription. Looks like just a misinterpretation of the terms on my part. I guess I assumed that canceling your subscription meant canceling your account, but good to know that's not the case.

I'm coming up on a year with Audible, and I love it. It is so easy to use, and the extra deals and sales are pretty good. I get one credit a month, but I am starting to think about going to two.

I was given a Gold membership as a gift for Christmas last year and I've loved it! I got the 12 credits all-at-once plan for $149.50. I promptly spent all my credits in January...oops. But I've had a lot to listen to over the course of the year.

Lately I've been loving the Daily Deals and have picked up several of them. It's hard to resist when they are under $5! Plus there are some free downloads from time to time (a recent one I enjoyed was Neil Gaiman reading one of his short stories). I also like the A-List Collection which has actors narrating classic and well-known books (like Colin Firth and Kate Winslet to name a few).

The app is really convenient and the nerdy part of me likes that it shows you your listening stats and gives you badges for different things.

I still get the majority of my audiobooks from the library since our budget is tight, but Audible does have great deals and discounts for members to take advantage of.
