Already Mommies

Best Part of Week-We got our family pictures back and I love them! I also got a huge gallery wrap (16*20) for only $20! It is a picture of Ava Nichol sitting in a little chair surrounded by presents and reading The Night Before Christmas

Worst Part of the Week-It was stormy on Saturday and the power was knocked out in a lot of local areas including our house. So we packed up and spent the weekend at my parent's. It wasn't too bad but storm/power outage is one of my biggest anxiety triggers since having Ava Nichol.

Milestones-She is signing our Christmas cards this year

so sweet and I can't believe she can scribble already. I just keep thinking back to last year and she was still a squushy baby!

QOTW-Worst advice: at the end of pregnancy when everybody kept saying rest up now because you won't sleep once you have her. It irritated me so much because 1. I couldn't sleep 2. It doesn't matter how much you sleep now it won't change how tired you are later!

Best piece of advice-Trust your gut. You are the mom and if you think something is wrong then you are probably right. You know your baby best. That and enjoy every moment. Remember the days are long but the years are short.

I haven't really gotten any advice but the ILs ALWAYS have something to say. Like don't do this because she will go blind or don't do that because she will never walk or she will never talk. Like bitch seriously I didn't know you were a doctor!!

How are you feeling? Still tired. And I have been having hip pain and headaches more frequently.

What are you craving? Ice cream

What is grossing you out? Thankfully nothing at the moment

Ultrasounds? Betas? Appointments? My next appt isn't until the 14th. It seems so far away!

Have you / will you found out the sex? Yes we will. Everyone is saying it's going to be a girl.

@wiggy I use to hate any comments related to sleep. It was usually that they would ask me how I was feeling, I would say tired, and they would respond with "you think you're tired now, just wait until the baby comes", and I actually feel just as tired now if not LESS tired than when I was pregnant.

@madeline Adalyn loves being worn in our K'Tan, which is great because it has allowed me to grocery shop and take her to restaurants without having to worry about her. She sleeps like a rock in it.

@bridget Adalyn just started social smiling, but I can't wait until it becomes more consistent.

@sparklingdiamond Almost second tri! So exciting!

I hope your headaches go away soon!

Best part: Adalyn started social smiling, it brings tears to my eyes every time.

Worst part: DH has been working a lot lately so he has been kind of tired and moody, which isn't pairing well with my PMSing. Which reminds me, I think I started my period...I haven't had any bleeding for over two weeks and last night there was blood all in a cute pair of underwear. Then I had leg cramps. Oh AF, how I haven't missed you...

Milestones: She is really starting to look at objects and even turns her head to follow DHs voice. It's so sweet.

Best advice: Trust your gut, you're a good momma.

Worst advice: *After posting a picture on FB with A in her K'Tan saying this is how I get stuff done at the house when she won't let me put her down* "You're gonna have to separate her from you at some point"...Seriously?!

How are you feeling? I feel so crappy today. It could be the lack of sleep, so I'm hoping if I take a nap or something i'll feel better.

What are you craving? Not much of an appetite

What is grossing you out? My dishwasher. There's this smell coming from it, thanks to my H, and I don't know how to fix it.

Have you bought/received anything for the baby lately? No but I did look at some baby clothes yesterday while I was out. They're just too cute.

How are you feeling? Pretty good. Hungry right now since I missed my morning snack.

What are you craving? Nothing really.

What is grossing you out? Nothing.

Have you bought/received anything for the baby lately? SIL gave us a onesie that says something along the lines of "I love my Aunt. She's the bestest in the whole world."

Ultrasounds? Betas? Appointments? Had our A/S this morning! I have my regular check up this Thursday.

Have you / will you found out the sex? We did this morning!!! BOY!

How is the nursery coming along? PIPs? Themes? Um...nothing has happened. But now that we know LO is a boy, we have a direction to go.

QOTW-What has been your best pregnancy advice you have gotten? The worst? BEST: Everyone is going to want to give you advice. The best thing to remember is that they're doing it because they love you, but that ultimately, every decision is yours to make. Don't let anyone make you feel bad about it. WORST: I don't think I've gotten any bad advice...at least not that I know of.

When is your EDD? 10/7/13, but we will find out the true due date today.

How are you feeling? Emotionally unstable, but I put that in a different post.

What are you craving? Nothing right now. String cheese has been my favorite morning snack for the past week, and it hits the spot.

What is grossing you out? Cigarette smoke....still.

Have you bought/received anything for the baby lately? Bought Halloween onsies and bibs on clearance for next year. Spent a whopping $5 on 1 onsie, 1 sleeper, and 2 bibs.

Ultrasounds? Betas? Appointments? Dating ultrasound and appointment today at 3:30.

Have you / will you found out the sex? Still haven't decided. H is all for it, I am not. The only reason I want to find out is so that I can buy clothes beforehand. Otherwise I still want everything gender neutral.

Any names picked out? H added Tanner to the list of boy names, and I kind of like it. But shhh, don't tell him I'm agreeing to his name.

How is the nursery coming along? PIPs? Themes? Moved a few things out of it this weekend, and sold some of the wedding stuff that was still being stored in there.

@brig2006 Good thinking on buying things on sale. I hate to buy things I don't need now but since having a kid, I'm like she can wear this in the summer at less than half the price.

As for finding out, with our first I could have gone either way but DH wanted to be surprised. If you're planning on having more, I strongly advocate being team green because then you get things you need and gender neutral. We did have to buy more clothes after she was born but we had all the essentials covered.

QOTW-What has been your best pregnancy advice you have gotten? The worst? Get out as much as you can (this was with my first) because after baby comes it's difficult and to not to mention a whole production just to go to the store.

Best part of your week? This little girl is gonna be a good helper. She brings me whatever I ask her so I don't have to roll off the couch. That sounds bad but seriously I'm like a rolly polly.

Worst part of your week? Dealing with the terrible twos especially when your daughter thinks you scolding her is funny.

Milestones? just her vocab and understanding of things exploding.

QOTW-What is the best parenting advice you have gotten? The worst? Go with your instinct. You'll hear a lot of things that other mothers do and you might feel like it's a dig at your parenting skills cuz you don't do the same (I.e., cloth diapering, organics only, etc.) but what works for them doesn't necessarily work for your family...and that IS ok. I have to remind myself that constantly.

How are you feeling? Sad. I'm really hormonal and have been ugly crying because I feel massive and not like myself. Physically, I'm okay, just sore. Baby boy is doing a number on my belly

What is grossing you out? a This morning, it was the smell of DH's iced tea (I wasn't even aware that iced tea had a smell until this morning - weird pregnancy nose)

Any names picked out? Ugh, this has become such a huge debacle. Maybe one of these days... Ethan David and Connor David are my top 2 right now. Don't know about DH. Goal is to narrow it down and pick between two when we see him.

@vitan I'm miss cheapass so that's why I've picked a few things up already. A couple of weeks ago I found a 4th of July onsie on clearance for $1. I got one in newborn size and one in 0-3 months. I figured if only 1 of them fits at the time, it's still cheaper than I would pay for one right after baby is born.

That's honestly my reasoning why I don't want to find out the sex. With the 2nd child we can, but I really don't want a lot of pink and blue gifts at the shower. But both of our parents are saying that if we don't find out, then they will throw us showers right after the baby is born. I'm not so sure if I'll be up for that and if I want to wait to get a lot of the bigger ticket items till then. And I figure we'll still get a crapton of pink or blue stuff at the shower afterward. Damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess.

How are you feeling? Not bad. I was sick yesterday and am having some after effects today.

What are you craving? Not too much. Plain foods.

What is grossing you out? Smells. Intense smells.

How is the nursery coming along? PIPs? Themes? After seeing some of the bedding we altered our color scheme to lavender, light green, and white. We will be color testing this weekend with swatches on the wall.

Already Mommies:

Best part of your week? Watching DD and DH interact with each other over the weekend. I don't think that will ever get old with how warm my heart feels when I see them together (DH is DD's father, it's just I love seeing them happy together). Also, watching DD interact with the cosplay characters at the comic book convention.

Worst part of your week? I had to deal with my SIL on Thursday which caused an argument between DH and I. We resolved it pretty quickly since I started having a panic attack over it, but DH made me feel better.

Milestones? Some of the words and phrases that come out of DD's mouth is unbelievable - in a good sense. She knows not to say bad words. She is definitely going to be a smart butt when she's older.

What is the best parenting advice you have gotten?

Spend all your time with her because time will go so fast. That is so true. I still can't believe DD is going to be 4 in January. It kills me to see how fast she is growing.

The worst?

Anything my ILs have to say about how I raise her. I coddle her too much; I love her too much. I hold her too much. ugh. Sorry that you don't like to show affection and I do.

When is your EDD? 1/1/2014

How are you feeling? Uncomfortable, but not too bad. My sleep is definitely being affected, which sucks. I am tired all the time.

What are you craving? Nothing.

What is grossing you out? Nothing.

Have you bought/received anything for the baby lately? My baby shower was on Saturday! Our friends were incredibly generous. We got our carseat (Britax B-Safe) and video monitor from my MIL, plus a ton of clothes and blankets. We are so blessed to have such great friends and family.

And one of everything we received from this baby shower and the one my sisters threw a couple of weeks ago when I was in Utah:

QOTW-What has been your best pregnancy advice you have gotten? The worst? Most of the advice I've gotten has been pretty cliche, like "Get sleep now!" or the like. The best is probably to let my H do all the vacuuming... I haven't vacuumed since like 25 weeks and though he doesn't do it as often as I'd like, it's nice not to have to do it. But every time I vacuum, I hurt for the rest of the day. I haven't really gotten any bad advice, actually... not yet anyway.

Best part of your week? Taking K to the zoo for the first time! I love going there and I hope she enjoys it as much as I do.
Worst part of your week? Daylight savings time + teething baby does not equal a fun time. And she has her 4 month appointment with shots tomorrow. I'll be thankful that I took the day off!

Best part of your week? Taking Delilah for ice cream for completing a long term (well longer term than ever for her) goal we set.

Worst part of your week? Zack has a cough and Delilah didn't sleep well for a couple nights. My poor babies

Milestones? Zack is now rolling from back to front. He'd been doing it from front to back for a while now, but now he's got both ways down!

QOTW-What is the best parenting advice you have gotten? Everybody makes mistakes. I think we all forget this when we're learning to be the best parents we can be sometimes.

The worst? They grow up quick. Enjoy every minute. no. I'm sorry but I'm not going to enjoy it when my kid is being a screaming, crying whiny brat for no reason. I don't care if they grow up quick. Actually at that point I'm hoping they grow up quick and grow out of that phase. I love my kids and live being a mom, but that doesn't mean I have to love or enjoy every single minute of it.

How are you feeling? Okay, I guess. My back is killing me and my feet have been really swollen lately.

What are you craving? Still orange juice. All the time.

What is grossing you out? eggs. blech.

Have you bought/received anything for the baby lately? A friend of ours gave us a bunch of stuff yesterday; bottles, a half a box of newborn diapers, some gender neutral clothes and a pair of baby sneakers

Ultrasounds? Betas? Appointments? I have the first of my every 2 week appointments on the 13, and I have to go for blood work again.

Any names picked out? Just a boy name, it's top secret.

How is the nursery coming along? PIPs? Themes? We're getting there... It's at least less full of crap, but the bassinet is ready to go in our room.

Best - To enjoy it and to enjoy time alone with DH.

Worst - That I will back down on not having baby's pictures on Facebook. Sorry, I don't want my child to have an internet presence before they can have a say in having an internet presence. I don't care if everyone's Facebook is as private as mine. I work with individuals that are mentally ill, I want NO chance of them knowing what my child looks like.

The other is that I'm going to want my mom and my MIL in the delivery room with us.

Nope, not happening, neither of you will even be at the hospital. Sorry. I want DH there and that's it. You can come visit later, give me time with my husband and baby, thank you very much.
