QOTD 11/4

When do you feel that Christmas music is allowable on the radio?

Re: QOTD 11/4

  • The day after Thanksgiving. Let's celebrate 1 holiday at a time! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, but it always gets overshadowed by Christmas. Now, stores are even opening on Thanksgiving for Black Friday sales. Can't we spend time with our families and be grateful for what we have for 1 day in the country? <end rant>

  • I'm tempted to listed to it now, but I think it makes it more special if I have to wait until after Thanksgiving.  And I love Thanksgiving so I don't want to skip over it!

I was at Kroger a few days ago and Christmas music came on, I was overcome with rage lol.

  • I agree with @Nic12184, the day after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is also my favorite holiday.

  • Never, I am a total Grinch.  lol!
  • Sure!  I love it, but if you don't want to listen to it, change the channel.  27 days isn't enough for me for Christmas!

  • I love Christmas music, but I always wait until the day after Thanksgiving.  For some reason, it just doesn't feel right listening to it any sooner than that.

  • I agree after thanksgiving.

  • On Thanksgiving. We have always had it playing at Thanksgiving dinner and it just seems normal.
  • @Mana It's hard to change the channel when it's on every channel and in every store from Halloween - New Years.

I'm not anti-Christmas music, I just want to celebrate 1 holiday at a time.

  • @nic12184 - Maybe that's a regional thing?  I think I only heard 1 christmas song so far, and that was Friday then it went back to regular music.  Our lite FM channel switches to 24 hour christmas songs on Thanksgiving.  I was at the mall Saturday and saw decorations, but not music yet.

  • Thanksgiving for us was in October. I think Nov 12th is fine. I like to celebrate Remembrance Day as both parents are military.

  • I'm with mana... I can listen to it all the time. If I don't want to I can change the channel. In stores, I find it easy to just tune out whatever they are playing if I don't like it.

  • I'm not picky, but as a family we always started listening on Thanksgiving. We'd go over to my Uncle's house for our big Thanksgiving meal, then on the way home we'd drive around listening to Christmas music on the radio.

  • I am all for Christmas work, but definitely after Thanksgiving.  I hate how holidays are rushed now.  I began seeing Christmas decorations in stores (for sale and as decorations) around Columbus Day.

With all my Halloween Grinching, H and I listened to the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack at dunner on Halloween...Maybe it's not too early this year.
  • I listen to it through out the year! If I'm in a bad mood I will put it on and instantly it cheers me up :-). After thanksgiving it's all I'll listen to till after Christmas! Drives hubby nuts :-)
  • In my opinion, definitely after Thanksgiving. It is in full force already though. I went to Michaels the other day to get cross stitch supplies and I caught the tail end of "Baby It's Cold Outside"

  • November 25th. I looove Christmas music but I think a solid month is good enough. If it wasn't played in all stores on loop everywhere then I could handle it for a linger stretch.
