I called Bro to tell him that the water bill is here and he owes 2/3.

Me: Yes, because you have 2 people up there.
Him: BTW, we
filled the oil tank.
Me: When?
Him: Monday.
Me: Who did you

Him: Joe Schmo’s Oil. You didn’t hear a truck on Monday?

Him: BTW, we paid taxes, too, for November. $800. Girlfriend paid
half and I paid half.
Me: Wait a second, Bro — why didn’t you tell me you
went down there? I have the tax bill.
Him: I will give you a receipt. BTW,
they said you are rude when you go down there. I won’t give names…
For the record, I was not “rude” the last time I went down there, which wss 2 weeks ago; I went to get the tax billings for the last 7 years, so I could bring the “what he owes” up to accurate date.
And I spoke with the CFO/former tax collector extensively during the second week in September; that’s when he told me about when the tax sale would be, what to do to split the house into condos, etc — I mentioned the conversation I had with CFO here, I think, last month.
Me: Do NOT get her involved in this. She has guest status.

Oh…why Bro did not call the usual oil provider, the one we have had for 16 years? “Oh my credit is bad and I have to establish an account…”
BULL. The last time he got oil was the winter of 2006. His credit with them
was fine at the time; I remember he paid using his card.So as usual, he wants an excuse for what was done.

The tax payment is not even towards this quarter, per se: they merely deduct that money from the 2 quarters in arrears and the payment is credited towards the first quarter that is in arrears – and I am pissed they did this themselves. Give ME the money and let me head down there. I have the tax bill. it only makes sense.
She should not be getting involved.

She also had no business going down there with him. Perhaps it is a public building but wow, this isn't her call and isn't her business. She needed to stand down and elect NOT to go with him.
Nor should she be paying anything into the rent. This needs to be all on him, I think.
What a mess. A total and complete mess. I don't know if I should say something to the girlfriend, being this case is going to court and I want to stay on the downlow as possible -- and document what happened instead and present it in court as evidence --- or what. I will see what my atty advises.
He has not been served yet. He is in the queue; perhaps they have been here and tried; that I do not know. In this state, it is 4 tries to serve the plantiff; after that, the announcement that Joe Blow is being sued for XYZ goes into a local paper.

He has no business involving her in this. If she went with him to pay that lump of taxes, wrong of her; she needed to stand down since this isn't her turf, so to speak.
No matter. He should be gone by the end of March, hopefully.
I don't know. If someone owed me money and I was having financial trouble because of it, I wouldn't give a flying fuck where they were getting the cash to pay even some of the debt as long as they were paying it.
