This could also be a hot topic. How do you feel about guns in the home?
Re: GTKY: Guns
I grew up with guns in our house. To be honest, I never knew they were there. Once I was old enough to understand what they were and that we had them, I was also old enough to understand that they were my dad's and we didn't dare touch anything that belonged to my dad without his permission.
We don't have any but I'm sure H will end up getting at least a hunting rifle. Anything he does get will be locked up.
H has several. I'm not saying he's an enthusiast, but I told him he wasn't allowed to buy more until he bought me an engagement ring, and we were engaged 5 months later :-)
I kind of blame his Mom for his interest in guns. H was never allowed to have any toy guns as a child and he's making up for it now!
I did not grow up with them so they still make me a little uncomfortable. I have shot the ones we own and am getting slowly more comfortable. I'm also in the process of getting my own license just because it makes sense if God forbid anything ever happened to H.
H is very safe with them, they're all unloaded, individually locked and in a gun safe. When we have kids we plan to teach them to respect them from a young age.
