James Bond party

My office Christmas party is going to be a James Bond theme. Since I'll only have been with the company for less than 2 months at the time, I don't want to go too crazy, but here are my thoughts:

a) I have a semi-sexy but still professional looking black dress (scoop neck, just past the knee). I could go simple and just say I'm Moneypenny or maybe buy a love knot necklace, put my hair up and go as Vesper from Casino Royale.

b) Wear my high school grad dress - it's gold, slinky and has a high slit. Pair it with some high heels (and some spanx!) and go as a classic Bond Girl or as Goldfinger.

My preference is to go with the black dress as it's more professional, but I'm not sure if I'm just reaching here and making a costume out of nothing as I can't find any photos of Moneypenny or Vesper in such an outfit. Moneypenny is more professional/business suit, and Vesper is either buttoned up or wearing her own slinky gown.

Thoughts?

Re: James Bond party

  • Is the Christmas party during work hours, or is this something that is outside of work?

Since the party is themed - I don't think that you being the classic Bond Girl is that big of deal (as long as the dress isn't tooo over the top)

I do see your concern with professionalism though :)  My thought is this - if the party is during work hours, I would probably go with the black dress if you think you'd look like Moneypenny of Vesper (Sorry, I don't watch James Bond and don't know who those people are).  If the party is in the evening or outside of work hours, I would go as the classic Bond Girl.
