A girlfriend and I are doing a no shopping challenge for 6 months. We can't decide on what the consequences should be if we do shop though. I thought we could be forced to get rid of 2 items from our closet for every 1 item we buy (closets must be cleaned out ahead of time, so we'd be losing something we liked enough to keep). But she doesn't think that would be enough to prevent her from shopping. She wants to do something like, she buys an item for herself, and then she is required to buy me something of equal value. The problem I have with this is that I'm benefiting from her failure, so I'll want to root for her to fail and she may not want to confess if/when she falls of the wagon. And vice versa.
Any thoughts?
Re: No shopping challenge - consequences
TTC since June 2012
But if you are doing this to save money how about donating your time. Go help out someplace. There are plenty of charities that need volenteers and money during the holiday season.
That's a great idea! Thanks Zero!
