So I know you guys have been witness to many of my gripes about my 1st year teaching and how I've had some awful experiences so far. I just wanted to post and say that it's changing! I'm still not sure if it's what I want to do with my life, but I'm starting to get positive feedback that it's a good choice if I do want to. My past two "official" observations have gone very well.
I don't know about them in advance, but I knew I had one coming soon. As a new, non-tenured teacher, I have to have 8 a year. I'd had 3 and everyone said my principal doesn't like to do them in December, so that left the next 3 weeks. Well one of those 8 observations has to be done by our principal along with someone from our central office. I had that one done today and it went pretty much flawlessly. She had nothing but good things to say and she said she's very impressed by my improvement and the effort I'm putting in!
Friday we had a guided reading "expert" come in to observe us (we found out 2 days in advance) and she came in with our principal and literacy coach. They came in a little earlier than I expected, but I just went on even though I hadn't planned that group for them to see, and it went really well. My principal commented yet again on how she'd noticed my planning and such the last time she saw me do it. I was so relieved!
I'm sorry this got so long, I just have to share my relief! I've talked my mom's ear off about it and H is still OOT in trainings, so I can't call him, so you guys get it! haha.
Re: WOOHOOOOOO!!
