Re: Confession Thursday

  • My boss is on vacation this week and gets back on Tuesday. I plan to do as little work as humanly possible until then.

Also, I have a job interview tomorrow for a new job. I'm completely torn on being terrified and excited about it.

  • A good friend of mine is coming and staying with us this weekend.  I'm really excited but I confess to being really insensative to DH about this friend staying.  DH gets really jealous about this friend because I adore this guy.  I think it's ridiculous though, because he's gay.  I don't see any need for jealousy.

Would a new job affect your ML?

  • I confess - I got in a debate over "there's good credit" debate on TB... one girl just asked the Money Matters board, and i'm happy to see they are agreeing with me.  The ones fighting with me about it wouldn't see it, but I'm happy to be validated.

  • I confess I am having a hard time staying motivated in school. I have yet to find a placement that makes me feel like this is it, this is what I want to do forever. Ugh.

Sigh, yes. BUT, I don't know to what extent yet. I am very fortunate where I am now that I am given the option to take up to 16 weeks of ML. My CWs with kids all have the option to work from home two days a week. I'm not sure if that will  be offered or apply to me because I am an hourly employee and they are all salaried. I'm concerned because of my job title and position, I will not be offered the same benefits as the other moms. I'm also not sure if I will qualify for FMLA at the new company since I will not have been there a year when the baby comes. So, I'm living in a bit of a flux right now, and getting way ahead of myself...

  • I confess that I've waited so long to try and start a family that I might consider putting my cataract surgery on hold till after we have a baby. I'm in no rush for eye surgery and weeks of wearing no eye makeup! My husband thinks I'm crazy for actually considering delaying the surgery!
  • @willyh19 - yea my CW's daughter switched while pregnant, and she only got like 6 weeks.  But you know what?  She's managing!  Do what's best in the long run and everything will come into place.

  • @Dana...I totally get it! I've been having some eye problems (not cataracts though), and have been going to a cornea specialist since April. I haven't been able to wear contacts since Feb, and it's driving me crazy, I hate glasses so much!!! There's been a few times when I haven't been able to wear eye makeup either, and I totally did not feel like myself. I'm a tired grad student, I literally need to "draw in" awake eyes on the morning! Luckily, DH and I are not ready to TTC, because I can't use the eyedrops I've been on to fix the problem if I'm pregnant.

I've known many women that have changed jobs while pregnant.  It's always worked out fine!
  • I am struggglingggg with the fact that I need new clothes, bras, shoes, the works.  I am so used to getting by on nothing from grad school and wearing crap all the time that it's very hard for me to spend $ now that I have some of it.  Also, I don't recognize this womanly body I have now-it seems so foreign.  I struggled with an eating disorder throughout hs and college and even though I'm not "fat" now, that's what I see when I look in the mirror, even though I'm really very average.  Blah!!  I am the girl who will only try on a certain size pant and if it doesn't fit, I don't get pants!  Which is why I only have 1 pair of jeans that fits right now, and a million other pairs in my closet that will only fit if I go back to eating air all day every day.

I feel like such a spoiled brat when it comes down to it. I know it would be fine. The $8-15k more a year would definitely not hurt either. It really would be a great career move for me if I was offered and accepted.

I went through this when I finally gave up on the idea of weighing in the 1-teens.  Just try to remember it's just a number and if your clothes fit better you will feel better.  Ignore the number and just try to find things that make you feel good about yourself.  Go buy something hot, that makes you feel great about yourself, and own those curves!!
  • @frank139 - I can relate and understand where you are coming from. I completely agree with @Seipel12 and think you deserve to go on a shopping spree! :D

This is what I tell myself, I'd rather get the bigger size and look GREAT then stuff myself in a size smaller and look awful with a muffin top and the works!

I am plus size, but gosh darn it, I think I'm rocking these skinny jeans and boots! H can't keep his hands off me when I show off my curves.

  • Thanks, girls!!  :x  You really perked me up.  I did buy 2 new bras today (online) and am working up the courage to try on jeans!!!  I can't wait to get these in the mail

  • I have an unbelievable amount of work this month, and several deadlines next week and I'd much rather be on TB and obsessing about TTC! Haha. Work always gets in the way of everything!!

  • I found out yesterday that my sister's engaged...again. And I am terrified that she'll ask me to be in the wedding because I've never given a real seal of approval on her relationship.

  • @frank139, you can do it with the jeans!! Go somewhere where you feel comfortable and find a salesperson who you think you'll be comfortable with and have them bring you different styles in different sizes (give them a range of what it might be) and try on enough that you don't need to worry about the size. Ask them to worry about it and get lost in it so that you're thinking about how they look instead of the number!

  • @xxjen015 that is a GREAT idea, thank you!!! :)

  • @frank139 I also worry about size and won't buy something just because it's a bigger size.  It gets frustrating.  I am sure that you a beautiful the way you are and your H loves you no matter what!

@xxjen015's idea is great!  Just have fun and let a salesperson do all the work.

@danaocny get your cataracts taken care of!  My grandmother on my father's side refused to have the surgery and was pretty much blind my entire life.  She used to get very frustrated and get pretty miserable toward the end.  I know it will put TTC back a few months, but the pregnancy hormones could make them worse.
  • I just went a little crazy on the library e-book website....hahahaha. I decided to check out my to-read list against their collection. They used to not have any of my books on there and I have now checked out 4 and put 5 on hold...haha. If anyone's going to understand, it's some of you!! I'm going to go recluse into my Kindle now... :D

  • @xxjen015 Your post may have inspired me to check the library options on my Kindle. That was one of the few things I got excited about after I moved--knowing the library had ebooks.

  • @sjs1013 I did schedule surgery for January but the woman who scheduled me was so nasty! She told me things the doctor hadn't said the night before when I was there. I'm calling back today and speaking with the doctor to clarify some stuff. A co-worker also told me the surgery center (which is 1 1/2 hrs from my house) is very outdated and she was not comfortable there ! As if I wasn't freaked out already that I need eye surgery I definitely didn't need to hear that!!!
  • @xxjen015 - yup, I did this in Semptember with the real library and the Elibrary.  I was on hold for EVER for a book at the elibrary so I got 2 books from the library (1 with a wait).  Then I got 3 emails my books were ready to get! and Allegiant coming out!  That was the plus side of the furlough... I got them all done!

  • @DanaOCNY, see if you can have the surgery elsewhere.  I don't think I would want to be operated on where the staff is rude and friends tell me they weren't comfortable.
