80s kids, c'mere

Ok, so @sfgiantsjo's Wacky Wednesday poll got me thinking about all things 80s last night. I found this on buzzfeed and thought I would share. The only thing missing is my Esprit bag and United Colors of Bennetton clothes.

Also... The Hub channel was playing The Neverending Story last night and I watched the hell out it. All the while I'm thinking, this is some creepy shit. I must have watched this a million time when I was a kid. How the hell did I not get creeped out by it? I still loved it though and can't wait for DS to watch it. If he doesn't like it, I think I may shun him, Eli style.

  • I was and still am traumatized by The Dark Crystal.  Those freaking puppets still haunt my nightmares to this day.  Damn you  Jim Henson.

@julie37619 I'm so happy you remember MathNet!  No one knows what I'm talking about when I mention it.  I still remember the episode on Fibonnacci's sequence.

  • It was Labyrinth that freaked me the hell out.  Still does.

I had all of those scratch 'n' sniff stickers.

  • Return to Oz totally gave me nightmares. Still creepy.

    Anyone remember Return to Oz?

  • I remember all of that stuff. Everyone once in awhile I'll get an 80's cartoons for my kids to watch through Netflix.  A lot of times when I sit down and actually watch them I kind of cringe.  My reaction usually varies from "wow, I can't believe they said that on kids show" to "isn't that racist?"  I was thinking about one of my favorite 80s shows the other day.  Ghostwriter.  I freaking loved that show.

I loved all of these. Makes me surprised that I don't read more fantasy books. I loved Return to Oz! I wanted that lunch pail tree. Does anyone remember Legend?

Legend. It's my favorite movie of all time. Deal with it.

Yes!! Very creepy. Like, Pan's Labyrinth creepy.

ETA: How the hell did this stuff give me hours of enjoyment, but Freddie Krueger caused me years of insomnia? lol

  • I made the mistake of opening this link when my husband and I were in class. There were many times we almost broke out laughing during the lecture! This was a great blast from the past :)

I watched a couple episodes on YouTube a couple months ago (namely the Max Mouse episode). So outdated!

I ADORED  the Dark Crystal!  How could I forget about that movie?

I was flipping channels the other day and made my kids watch Fraggle Rock.  My 5-yr old kept pointing out plot holes.  :/

I didn't actually realize it was a book until a few months ago but I definitely want to read it soon (and then re-watch the movie that I probably haven't seen in over 20 years...)

    Yep!
It sort of is like Neverending Story and Neverending Story 2 combined, but with some obvious differences.
    I love that book.
Odd random side note: my cousin went to school when we were kids with a boy that said his father was working on Neverending Story 2 and was bragging that he knew what the theme song was.  "Written on the pages is the answer to our neverending story. Neverending stooooory......TWO!"
    Seriously....
    Obviously he was wrong.

  • Oh, wow! I never realized that it was based on a real book. I will have to pick that up.
