Now that it's mostly over...

...I can tell you guys without freaking myself out. I posted a BC question earlier and said I was going to the gyn. It's the same lady dr. I've had for a while, but she just moved her office. Thank God because I hated her office staff and the triage nurse at the last place.

So I talked to my dr. About the breakthrough bleeding and she said that's possibly a sign of ovulation... And because of the advice from the triage nurse, I've been ignoring it for 15 months! But I hardly remember that part of the visit.

My Dr. found a lump in my right breast and ordered an ultrasound for it. She was good about not freaking me out, but made it clear we shouldn't mess around. I had the ultrasound done the next morning. I was a little angry that my first ultrasound experience was for a breast lump and not a pregnancy. And H came with me, but he wasn't allowed in the room. Thankfully it ended up being a benign cyst, a serious side effect from my already-a-problem birth control. I was switched to something else before you could say "FML."

I have to have another ultrasound in 6 months to make sure it hasn't changed, but if it's painful I'd have to see a surgeon. Not sure how painful it's gotta be to choose to have your teet sliced open, but I'm not there yet. Anyway, I've been pretty distracted the past few weeks. Thanks for listening, girls.

Re: Now that it's mostly over...

  • I'm glad it was benign! I know that is a scary appointment. I have been in the same situation before and mine was also benign. It's super scary and really makes you think about things. Glad it was nothing more!
  • I'm glad to hear it wasn't anything worse! And if it makes you feel any better I've had a few ultrasounds and none have been for pregnancy!

  • I can understand how that could be scary.  I had that a few years ago and they did have to go in and remove the cyst.  It's was uncomfortable but not awful.

  • Jamael! I wish I would have known! We need to get together... maybe with a bottle of wine! I am so glad you are ok.

(My first ultrasound was also from breakthrough and I was equally bummed)

We do, but I was afraid to tell people cuz I felt like talking about it made it scarier. And the ultrasound was on my breast to ID the lump
