Circus

Has anyone gone or going this weekend? I see so much about it but we have never gone. I was wondering if it lived up to the hype!

Re: Circus

  • I took my son on Wednesday night.  It was good, fun show.  It was also long.  He is 4.5 and he was pretty much over it by intermission.  We stayed for the whole thing but there was plenty of "this is boring" towards the end.  But I knew he'd want to see the big dragon they had.  I wouldn't take a kid younger than him - I think probably 6/7 is more of a sweet spot age-wise.

  • I brought Gavin twice (he was 3 and then 4); and brough Conall when he was 2. They loved it at all ages - we did the 11am weekend show, and then a 4 or 5p show so that it didn't interfere with nap time; I think that helped with their concentration.

    Go - enjoy!

  • My inlaws are taking my kids tonite.  My sister took her kids Wednesday ( they are 7 & older) and left after intermission b/c it was getting too late.  All I know is take your wallet & be prepared to pay b/c she said everything was really pricey!

  • We went last night.  Madeline (almost 3)  fell asleep after intermission.  It was fun show.  We went early for the preshow and I think that was overrated and would skip it next time.

I always forewarned my kids that they would be taking home nothing. (Except the second year where I got the $1/ticket promotion - then they were each allowed one pick from the choices I gave them.) But, yes, a similar toy cost $5 elsewhere and around $20 at the circus!

oh lordy yes.  Do yourself a favor and take a light up toy from the dollar store with you.  surprise said child with it inside to bribe him/her away from the overpriced circus toys.
