Talk to me about nursing accessories, baby ointments, creams...
I am slightly overwhelmed in the world of nursing pads, creams, etc. What did you find to be necessary? What did you find to be superfluous? I am hoping to BF so long as my milk comes in. Also, what do you ladies recommend brand wise for diaper creams, etc?

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

Re: Talk to me about nursing accessories, baby ointments, creams...
As far as everything else, here's what I use:
Palmers Stretch Mark Cream
A&D Ointment (for diaper rashes)
Target Brand Lotion (for after baby's bath, mainly for LOs feet because they get dry)
I would also recommend having panti liners and pads at home, as well as wipes for you. It cleans better, and feels better, than toilet paper once you can actually wipe.
ETA: I bought nipple cream but didn't use it. It's probably a good thing to have on hand, but you can always go get it later.
Also, invest in at least two nursing tanks. They are the only thing I wore until my milk settled and I got a nursing bra, and I still wear them at night because it's easy.

Diaper cream- love Weleda!!! It's been fantastic on her tushy.
Baby lotion- I love California Baby's Everyday Lotion in calming. Her cheeks get irritated sometimes too and Episcencial's soothing cream has been the best of everything I've tried.
I also had an overwhelming amount of bathwash and have loved California Baby the best after the J & J chemical scare. I realize we all used it and are still here but I'm choosing to use more "crunchy" type items.
As far as baby, it may be best to hold off on lotions and creams to see if they're needed and what works for your baby may be trial and error. I know a lot of people recommend butt paste for diaper rash but we never had luck with it. Desitin max worked best for us. And Zack has a bit of eczema and we've found Aveeno baby eczema cream to be working thus far.
.
I have a few nursing tanks from Motherhood which I find very helpful to wear under sweaters, etc, so that my belly doesn't show when I BF in public.
Lanolin for the ta tas is awesome. G's pedi also prescribed some Jack Newman's nipple ointment since I had some minor thrush issues in the beginning.

I didn't really use the lanolin but I would have a tube on hand just in case. I found the things you put in the fridge and then put them on your nips to be a lot more useful.
I hated the boppy and preferred a regular pillow on the couch. I had a nursing cami made by bravado ( http://www.bravadodesigns.com/mobile/the-essential-nursing-tank ) that I loved. I hear a lot of larger chested women suggesting bravado bras as being supportive and I (36DD/DDD) found the built in bra in the tank to be very supportive!
As for diaper cream we love triple paste if using sposies and CJs BUTTer cream for cloth.
I don't know if you're planning on CDing, but if so you'll need to be sure you use something that's CD-safe. We use California Baby Diaper Cream and when we're in sposies we use A&D.
