AW: I love my DH (work related)

My last day of maternity leave is December 24th. I had planned on quitting my current job and finding a part time job but now that A is here I'm hesitant. Three months seems so young to leave her. I don't want to miss anything and I feel like she's still going to need me too much.

Well DH and I were talking about it and he wants me to SAH! At least until she's a little older. He told me he could support us and we just would have to cut down on extra spending. I am so happy. I never thought he'd be okay with me being a SAHM.

Before A was born he told me he definitely wanted me to work so we would have the extra money. I think he was just afraid of being the sole provider since we've always had two incomes. Just goes to show you how your way of thinking changes once the baby gets here. :)

  • Wow, that is great! I wish I was that lucky to be able to SAH but I'm the breadwinner and that probably won't change. So if everything goes according to plan, I'll be able to take time off at the beginning of next school year and go back when baby is three months old.

  • That's great S, I'm glad you guys talked about it and are now on the same page :)

Honestly I am so thankful that our business is doing well and that DH works his ass off to let me be a SAHM.
  • Prepare yourself! I'm having a hard time being a SAH and I'm six months in! It's hard to get out with my two, and I sometimes feel like I don't have a 'place' and I miss working. I know this could just be my case, but be aware of these feelings. I never thought I'd feel this way.

  • Yeah I'm sure I'll have those days. I guess I just like that I don't have to work, but I can if I want to. It takes a lot of stress away.

Yay! I'm glad you have that option. And more power to you SAHMs. I know I couldn't do it. It's hard and sometimes I need a break from my kids where I'm not just mom. I feel bad saying it because I really do love my kids and being around them, but it's the truth.

  • My DH is in school so being SAH is not an option for me right now. I truly wish it was and so does he. We have decided that when he graduates and gets a FT job I will be SAH so I only have to work 1 more school year. I don't think I will miss working, I have so many things I enjoy doing at home (cooking, volunteering, being a homemaker etc) and I am going to homeschool once our kids are school aged so, I am excited! It's so great that you can be SAH now. There are things that you have to be willing to give up to live on one income and it is not always easy, but if you are willing to sacrifice some luxuries, I believe it will be great.
