Omg, has anyone ever "forgotten" a tampon??

I just went to the dr and she said I had a tampon stuck.  I had been freaking out, noticing a smell, thinking something was wrong with me.  My stomach started hurting, and I had noticed weird stuff.   so I started googling symptoms and darn that google!  Lol, I totally started worrying.  Well, turns out I had forgotten about a tampon.  HOw?  I mean, this has never happened, and how does it get way up there and lose the string??  So embarrassing...

  • Oh girls, I think it was up there for a few days.  I totally questioned myself about it the other day too.  I was like, did I take it out?  I couldn't find the string, so I figured I had taken it out before going to bed and forgot.  My oh my!  I feel like a sicko!  Lol

  • I thought this happened to me before. Similar circumstances woke up with no string and assumed I must have taken it out the night before and forgotten. I kinda searched around before putting a new one in and didn't find anything so I guess I had taken it out.

  • One time I had an ultra sound because I kept having abdominal pains and they were checking for cysts. The tech kept asking me if I had forgotten a tampon because she could see something in there that wasnt supposed to be there.

I ended up having to have a "scraping" type procedure to remove tampon fibers that became inbedded in my vaginal walls. It was when the Tampax Pearl first came out. Another friend had complaints like mine as well. They said it was probobly because I was using too high of an absorbency for my flow and they were mostly "dry pulls" causing fibers to stick around. But they didnt have "light" tampons availible in my area at the time. Its still not easy to find them.

Paranoia like a mo fo for months even after switching brands.

  • All of this makes me even happier I switched from tampons to cups.

  • I am really good about it usually too, because TSS is something I have always worried about happening.  I was really light, so I didn't think much of it, being almost no more when I forgot.  Seriously, so glad she found it.  She goes in and  is like, "oh, you have something up there" .  I totally freaked out like, what the hell do you mean?  Something up there?  Lol, there isn't supposed to be anything up there.  She totally acts like its no big deal, apparently it happens all the time, but eeeeeewwwwww!!!!

Definitely I will be really paying attention even more from now on.  @Pandpmeant2b omg glad her daughter is ok.  How did she know?  Did she end up with a fever?  I always wondered, and when I am using tampons when I start ever not feeling good I will start worrying... How scary!

  • I did this once in HS. I tried to insert another tampon and realized there was one still there! I was freaking out in the school bathroom.

Sorry you had to be so embarrassed! I'm sure your Dr. has seen it before, but I would have been freaking out too!

She thought she had a really bad case of the flu (fever, weak, throwing up, etc.), so she took her to the hospital early in the afternoon so she could get some fluids.  Later that night they thought it MIGHT be TSS so they immediately started her on antibiotics.  She was in the hospital for a few more days, but she's fine now, thank goodness.
