I will start, that I know H doesn't like Christmas, and isn't a good gift giver. I'm ok with that, but I just want him to TRY! Birthdays, I don't even bother and I tell him what I'm getting haha. I just feel Christmas is different.
Last year, we were really struggling money wise, so we didn't do Christmas presents for each other. I caved and got him PJ pants and some undershirts, because I wanted him to have something to open. I was seriously Ok with, and he made me get some sweaters at the store while getting the kids' gifts. Before that, we walked the mall, I pointed somethings out, he literally took pictures and went back to get them.
This year, I thought - hey I'll make a wishlist on Amazon to give him! He can pick what he wants, order it, or get it at another store. I put a few necklaces on it, scarves, some Wii games, lotion... he's like just order it all and there is your christmas. Well, I don't want it all! I want him to PICK! When I tell him this, he's like I'm no good at this stuff. Ummm... I did all the work, you just have to pick a few things and order it! I want to throat punch him.
Re: H and Christmas (rant)
I don't mind giftcards from people that don't know me well enough, like the ILs. I get giftcards to the neices and nephews. They are all older (18-21) and are way cooler than I could ever be (sarcastic font).
haha @ystaalenburg - I can't say that and expect something. I'll always gets nothing. This is why I'm telling him, I'd like you to go get me a gift - here are some ideas haha.
ETA- I don't blame you for being frustrated with it. I would feel the same way.
My DH is a TERRIBLE occaision gift giver! he just doesn't get it. he took me on a shopping spree on my birthday once, which though fun...I picked everything out! If I tell him stuff he MAY get me something but other wise, it's a card...he got me an ecard for my birthday one year!!! then he doesn't get why I'm upset b/c he is an EXCELLENT just because gift giver...like a super expensive (like he won't tell me how much) pearl necklace...just beacuse. so then, he thinks his gift giving is done for the year! I would rather get a cardigan on christmas than crazy expensive stuff to "even it out" over the rest of the year...
