Do you have a tv in your bedroom?

Re: qod 11-12-13! ;)

  • Yes but it's never been turned on! We decided against getting a second cable box for the bedroom because H and I really enjoy (ok maybe tolerate) the same shows.

  • Nope!  We were just talking about this the other day, and I'm not sure if we'll ever get one.  I know "they" say that it's best to keep your bedroom strictly for sleeping so that your body associates going to bed with sleep... so I guess that's my reasoning?

  • We do not. Our current bedroom doesn't have the set up for it, but I don't think I would want one in the future. I know that H would fall asleep with it on which drives me nuts! They also say it decreases certain activities and I definitely don't want that! ;)

  • We do but the only time I've turned it on is when I am cleaning the bedroom and I put a movie in to keep me company. We talked about getting a better TV (we have a smart TV in the living room so another one of those) for the house because we were considered dropping to basic cable and getting Hulu.

  • We do and always have. We usually turn it on when we go to bed just until we fall asleep. Also now we keep it on for the light so when one of us gets up with Ethan we can navigate the room without waking up the other person with lights and sounds.
  • Yes, we do. H needs background noise to fall asleep so we'll put it on a low volume with a sleep timer. I'll put it on in the morning as I'm getting ready too to watch/listen to Good Morning America.

  • We done and honestly it's a giant bone of contention.

I'm a firm believer in no TV in the bedroom.  There's just too much research that can convince me otherwise.  That being said, my MIL "trained" H to fall asleep to the TV, so unless it's on he has a really hard time falling asleep. I just wait for him to fall asleep and then turn the thing off.  In fact, he mentioned putting a TV in the nursery the other day and my reply was "over my dead cold body".

His mother always has the bloody TV on, even while they are eating at the kitchen table.  I'm prepared to hide the remote and stand my ground come Thanksgiving.

  • We did for a quick second but then we redid our basement and put it down there. We never watched it ever in the bedroom so it wasnt a big deal. I sometimes I wish I had one when its cold day and all I want to do is cuddle in bed and watch movies haha

  • We have a TV in our bedroom, but it is not hooked up.  It is an old TV that we probably should get rid of. I used to watch TV in my bed when I lived alone, especially the news in the morning when there were potential for snow days (days off of work).  We mostly just sleep in our bedroom now, so I don't think it is necessary for us to have a TV in there anymore.  We will probably get rid of it eventually.

  • We have one. I mainly watch it in the morning when I'm getting ready for work. I like to have the news on to see the weather and traffic reports.

  • No, our room is wired for cable...but I am a strong believer in keeping TV out of the bedroom....we spend enough time on media, the time in bed (before falling asleep or waking up on a Saturday morning) is some of our only quality conversation time...I refuse to replace that with yet more media.
