Hello Out There....

Good Morning! How is everyone doing? How was your weekend? I am going okay. Just a little tired and don't want to be at work. Nothing new on that front. Our weekend was wonderful. The concert was amazing. To see a full orchestra play music from the Rolling Stones was pretty amazing. We also got to see my grandparents and get some christmas shopping done. My grandma is all proud, she finally achieved a C-atch award with her dog Louie. She does agility with him. You run around through tunnels, hurdle, ramps, etc. with the dog. It was so cute!!!

Re: Hello Out There....

  • Morning!!

Sounds like a great weekend degrea! Super cute about your grandma! I love it!!

Our weekend was uneventful. We attempted to move a queen bed to our basement but the box spring won't fit down our stairs. So frustrating. We moved and vacuumed under our bed though which was long overdue. It was nasty. That can never happen again.

It snowed here overnight. I'm excited!!
  • I tried to post a pic but it didn't work.
  • Now it's working! This is ds playing in the snow this morning before he decided he would wear his mitts. Toddlers are so much fun
  • It snowed here to. Like 1 mm. HAHA! Though by the amount of salt in the parking lot you would think 10 in at least. LOL! I can't see the picture because work is lame but I am sure he is super cute. Echo are your on facebook? If yes are we friends?

  • I am on Facebook and no we are not friends but I can be creepy and find you...I think...
  • I am 97.8989 % sure I sent you a request....
  • You did! Your son is adorable. So cute!!! Love it! How was the Santa Parade??

  • Aww thanks.

It was great. He sat there and watched it but wasn't really into it much. Next year it will be much better I am sure!
  • One of my neice's is 3 this year well 3 and half. I am looking forward to seeing her at Christmas this year. I think she will be all about santa and presents, etc.

  • Oh yeah! It'll be good. We do every other year back home at my parents (which is 3 hours away). Next Christmas we will be there. It'll be insane. Ds will be almost 3, new one will be almost 1. And then our nieces and nephews will be 7,4, 2.5, 1.5, 7 months and who knows if they'll be anymore. I'm be insane!!
  • That is a lot of children. Sounds like fun but also terrible at the same time. Keep in mind that I don't want children so that many kids in one area sounds painful. But I can appreciate the fun of it as well.

  • Hi, ladies!

Degrea - sounds like you had fun!
Echo - I love when you post pictures of Charlie! He's too cute!

My weekend was ok. I worked a couple hours Saturday morning, then we went to dinner and to see the new Thor. It was pretty good! I actually only saw that first Thor in the afternoon after we got off work. haha! It was a nice night out Saturday. We haven't gone out in a long time.
Didn't do much Sunday. Lots of being lazy. We went to the grocery store, which I hate. #1 I hate going there on a Sunday ande #2 I hate  going there with DH. Drives me bonkers!

Today would have been my dad's birthday. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel about this. Mostly I just don't care. My mom sent me a text asking me how I am today and I just told her I was fine, it's just another day. And it is. I had a test today so I was thinking about that, not about that fact that if he was alive it would have been hsi birthday. Because even if he was, the most I would have done was sent him a text to say happy birthday. SO big deal. My older sister is making it a big deal. I dunno. I think she needs help. Or maybe I do for not thinking this is bigger than I think it is.

I got a call today about his life insurance claim so they could get my info. They are processing his primary claim and we should get that soon. There's a voluntary secondary policy as well, but he didn't name people beneficiaries, so we have to fill out a form first before it can be processed. oh my.

  • Hello. My weekend was pretty boring. H left early Mon on a business trip and will be gone till Fri eve. We are hosting a thanksgiving potluck for our small group on Sat so it's a hectic week for me.

Today my cousin flew in to DC on the way home from Ethiopia bringing home the 2 kids they have adopted. I was able to see them which was nice. When I came back home there were cops all over our little court. So weird. Seems like they were investigating a house a few doors down. They aee all gone now.

    Hi echo, Degrea and jlq!
I love the picture of your kid echo.
    Degrea the concert sounds fun!
Jlq I think both of your reactions are quite reasonable. People grieve and respond in very different ways.

  • Aggie - Do you enjoy your time alone when your DH is gone, or just wish he was home with you? I think sometimes it's nice to have the house to yourself!
    Also, awesome for the adoption!
Seeing cops around your house is never fun.

There were cops at the store when I got there today for work. Well, one cop. Pretty sure one of the girls got caught stealing money from the store and got fired and probably in a lot of trouble, too.

I hate that it's cold and dry out, because now it's shocking season in my house. We have a microfiber couch and so if I'm sitting on it in sweats or bed pants, when I get up I'm just all full of static and get shocked so badly! It's awful taking things out of the dryer, too. We keep a crockwith water in it on top of our heater to put some moisture in the air, but it's obviously not enough.

  • Yes and no jlq. I enjoy a weekend to myself but a whole week is not enjoyable to me. I don't hate it but I don't look forward to it like some people do.

Haha I hate the static jlq! Least favorite part of the dry winter.

  • I'm the same way, Aggie. A weekend by myself is fine, but a whole week is just too much. Partly because where we live we still don't really know anyone or have any friends, so then I'm just all alone and it's depressing.

  • JLQ: I agree with aggie. I think both responses are normal.

Aggie: Hi aggie! I don't hate it when H is gone but i do miss him. I find that I miss him the most of garabge day. I hate dragging the trash cans in.

  • Dh is never gone long...but I do enjoy when he takes ds for a few hours. Lol alone time is nice!!

It's almost lunch time on Wednesday!! Almost halfway through the week!! I cannot believe it's already Wednesday but Wednesday is going so slow!
  • I am on an all day conference call. Slow doesn't describe it! Wohoo to the week being almost over. We are going to a get together to discuss our up coming trip to Mexico on Sat. I am starting to really look forwrad to this vacation. I need out of this place!! Work has been stressful recently. Only 17 more days and I will be on a beach reading a book. Speaking of reading what type of books should I take with me? Any ideas?? I was thinking I might see what the libary has on the Castle series that Aggie said was good. Or possibly Nora Roberts or Sandra Brown series, some good fluff. Or Christmas book, like Christmas Shoes. Or educational book that I have on the history of eletricity, Edison vs Tesla. I can't decide and since I am old school (no kindle/nook) I need to decide because I am not bring 10 different books with me.

  • If you re looking for light and fluffy Degrea The Nikki Heat (Castle) books are a good choice. The inn Boonsborro trilogy by Nora Roberts is also some fun light reads.
If you are looking for a little romance Sultry with a Twist is a great trilogy.

Jlq and Evita probably have other suggestions that fit what you are looking for. I don't tend to read those types of books as much.

  • I have read the Inn Boonsborro already. I loved every minute of it. Thanks for the suggestions Aggie!

  • You could try to Sultry Springs series. they are romance novels, and easy quick reads! They're really good.
The Lover's Dictionary is really good and quick, also!
I'm reading Eleanor&Park right now and it's a super cute read, so you could try that, too!
