QOTD 11/12

So DH and I woke up to snow this morning and were so excited. We love snow. Well we love snow until the end of January and then wish it would go away.

So how do you feel about snow? Love it, hate it, never saw it, miss it?

  • Love it!  I think living in Michigan for 3 years made me really appreciate how beautiful it can be.  Granted, the snow in IN isn't as pretty, but this morning we had a light dusting and it was perfect.

Now, ask me again in April ;)

  • I think it is pretty to look at. I appreciate it on Christmas morning and that is about it. I could live without seeing it for the other 364 days of the year. I guess that is part of the reason I live somewhere it doesn't snow often. There is NO part of me that misses the 100+ inches we got every year in Michigan.

  • I only like snow on one day - Christmas.  I hate the cold, and I HATE driving in snow.  Everyone freaks out on the roads and it's a mess.  They freak out with rain too... and wind.  Oh and bridges.  I hate this area.

I also totaled my car in the snow in 2009.  I've made H take me into work a few times, and I have 4WD haha.

  • LOVE IT!  But where I'm from... it's a treat and everything pretty much stops so everyone can play in the snow.  Don't know how I'd handle tons of it all the time.  The most snow I've ever seen was 6".  Where I live now... it's even more rare.  I miss the cold right now!  I've lived here 5 years and have literally worn shorts on Christmas.  I am SUPER excited for weather tomorrow... high of 57, low of 37!  It will only last like a day, but at least it will feel like winter for a short period of time!

  • I loathe snow.  In MN we have to get over a foot of snow before things close down.  So I feel like I'm endangering my life to go to work a lot of the winter.  I hate being cold, but I think I could tolerate snow if I didn't have to drive in it.
  • I lived in Colorado until I was 13 and I have great memories playing in the snow, so I sorta miss it.  We don't get much snow in Austin, but every few years we'll get a small storm and everything looks so calm and peaceful.  All the kids go outside to play and make snowmen, and the air smells like firewood.  It's so different than what we are used to, so it's a nice treat.  I think as an adult, I would hate the snow if I lived in an area that got a lot of it.

  • I HATE snow. The only time I can deal with it is: 1) on Christmas and 2) if I have no where to go and can sit on my couch all day with a cup of tea!

I've lived in upstate NY all my life so you'd think I'd be used to it...not so much! I absolutely HATE driving in it, the fact that my car is not 4WD doesn't help.

This should be our last winter in Rochester, then we're moving to the DC area where there should be much less snow : )

  • @nic12184 - HA!  Depends on what winter you're talking about down here.  3 years ago we had 3 storms of 20+ inches each.  2 were in the same week.  Last 2 years, nothing.

  • LOL about the DC snow storms!

The difference is: if it snows 20 inches in upstate NY, schools might close for 1 day but everyone else is expected to be at work...in the DC area, it seems like EVERYTHING closes at just the mention of the possibility of getting a FEW inches of snow!

  • Hahah @willyh19 - haha my entertainment was watching people dig themselves out in the apartments. There were tupperware, trashcans... it was hilarious.

    Bahaha that's how we roll!

PA is the WORST for plowing snow.  They wait until it's done.  MD, man they are ON IT!  First flake, ALL THE TRUCK are out.  I love it.

  • Yeah I didn't have a shovel and attempted to use a dustpan. Luckily i had nice neighbors who let me borrow a shovel!

  • I love it! Good thing too since I live in Canada! I don't drive either so that also helps. This winter I won't be doing much shoveling so it's shaping up to be an all around snow loving fest. Snow at Christmas is the best.

  • I love snow until I have to drive in it! We moved last year into the Catskills a little and now there is a mountain in between home and work ! My husband can work from home but I usually make him drive me in, he had a huge truck and I have a small hybrid car.
  • It's alright. It's nice at first but when it gets all dirty and gross I don't want to look at it any more. We got a snowblower (and an AWD car) so it should be more tolerable this year.
  • I love it! We don't get nearly enough here in TN :P  Everything shuts down for an inch or two, which is nice. It gets super peaceful, I love it. A couple of years ago we got 8 or 9" very quickly...It shut the city down completely for a couple of days.

  • I hate snow.  I've never liked it.  My dad owns apartment buildings and doesn't believe in having a super.  Anytime it snows, I'm outside shoveling my day away.  It's pretty before I've been shoveling for hours and cars have driven through it.  I'm not a winter fan as a whole anyway, snow just makes it worse.

Also, I'm not one of those "wear your pajamas inside out" teachers.  I prefer my days off on nice, warm, sunny days.  There is nothing I hate more than a make up day on a 90 degree day with no air conditioning.  I hate it even more when those days are taken from my summer vacation.
  • I'm indifferent on snow. I hate driving in it and the cold. But it looks pretty in certain areas around here.

  • HATE it!! I'm Canadian too so it sucks! Snow is considered a curse word in this house Lol I think its because I have seasonal affective disorder so I associate snow with feeling bad :/....plus its cold and wet!
  • LOVE IT!!! did a little dance when I saw it, and even wore a snow themed outfit yesterday (down to my let it snow underwear) maybe I have a problem...

until march when I am ready for spring.
