  • I went to the small food market last night to pick up tampons bc I only had 2 of my pearls left and OF COURSE they only had tampax pearl super plus or Kotex. I used a Kotex this morning and they are TERRRRRRRRIBLE. I am P/O I spent money on them but I had no choice and now I am stuck with them.

I think the idea is that they introduce a foreign substance and more chemicals into your body.

  • I can't stand tampons. From the moment it goes in it just feels like it doesn't belong. I only ever wear them if I need to go swimming during AF. The last time I tried to put one in I couldn't even put it in right! I am a tampon failure! I have just always used pads because it's easier for me.

  • OB, when I lived in australia you litterally cannot find tampons with applicators, I got really used to it and I hate the waste of the applicators. If you're TTC and used to going all up in there, it's really not a big deal haha

That used to be me. People always told me that they couldn't feel them once they were in.  I definitely felt them.  They always felt like they were going to fall out. I figured I was doing it wrong, and like you, only used them when absolutely necessary.  At some point, it stopped feeling awkward- I didn't change anything.  So strange.  But now, don't even feel 'em.

I've been wearing them for the past week due to the heavier spotting and clots, and I feel disgusting. I even bought baby wipes to clean things throughout the day. It still feels gross. Don't know how I used to wear them all the time when I first got my period.

  • I mainly use Playtex Sport, I felt like I had less leaks than with other brands. Of course they shouldn't really leak at all, but I think I have a weird vagina.

I have a Diva Cup that I really wanted to like, but it was just awkward. I probably didn't give it enough of a chance though.

  • I can only use Tampax because I need the light ones and no other company makes them. The regulars hurt my insides. I also typically only have heavy enough flow for a tampon for maybe 2 days. Unless I'm going somewhere I don't wear them. Pads are just easier when I'm hanging around at home.

  • Tampax Pearl is my brand, but I don't mind using ob tampons, either.

Funny story...At the beginning of our TTC journey (about 5 months in), we went to Europe with my parents. I started my period on the last day of our trip while we were at the airport, and I had no supplies. My dad wanted to get something to drink while we were in the terminal, so he bought me tampons, too (my dad is awesome). All they sold were ob tampons. You should have seen his face when I bluntly asked, "So, no applicators?" I think he turned about 10 shades of red!

This is why I love the cvs brand. Only brand I've ever tried that didn't leak. I totally forgot why I liked them till I read your post.

  • Playtex sport are the only type that don't leak out everywhere. I still have to wear a pad, though...
  • I used to use the pearl ones but then I found Kotex U which work WAY better for me. I still have to wear both a tampon (super plus) AND a pad though.. Sucks. I leak no matter what brand I use or how often I change them.

T-TTC since Dec 2008. PCOS/nonexistant cycles(anovulation) and endo. HSG in '10 revealed both tubes blocked. Lap surgery in Dec '10 to correct. Failed Clomid/IUI and injectable(Bravelle)/IUI cycles so far.

  • I'm an OB girl and have been for years. No biggie to me and its easier not searching for a garbage to get rid of the applicator. When someone needs to 'borrow' a tamp I always feel the need to disclose what I have before they accept in case they can't handle it

    This is me.

Also, I hate Tampax. So much. They're super flat and long and I don't understand why they're so popular. They leak everywhere and I hate that they've gotten so much of my money by sending me coupons. I always buy them thinking they couldn't possibly be as bad as I remember, and then they're worse. I finally told DH this year never to let me buy them again. I do like the lights though actually, which are fine because they're smaller and I use them when they practically *can't* leak anyway.

  • Tampax pearl usually, but as long as it has a plastic applicator I'm happy.

I can't wear tampons my first few days of AF though, it makes the cramps more intense and with endo they're bad enough as it is. I do hate pads though...

  • I usually use Playtex Sport.  Now they have Extra Light ones, which I love.  I've tried Tampax and they hurt and are uncomfortable for me.

I also use Softcups from time to time.  They are helpful.  :)  Plus, they are more comfortable swimming.
