DH and I were talking about Christmas gifts yesterday so I had a fun question to ask you ladies.

What is the worst gift you ever received? It doesn't have to be Christmas related.

I know you should be grateful for whatever you receive, but sometimes you beg to ask "why???"

    Haha! H used to be a big video game person, and I am not.  So for one of my birthdays he got me 2 video games. Granted they were Sims and Roller Coaster Tycoon. So I played them, but it was sort of a "um, thanks?" type of gift.

    Oops I forgot to post mine!

    Last Christmas, my lovely MIL thought of me oh so fondly when she handed me a Santa chocolate bar overly wrapped in wrapping paper. The chocolate tasted awful, like the kind you buy at the dollar store.

    Worst gift I ever got was some personalized jewelry from my grandma. My name was misspelled (whether she misspelled it or the company couldn't read her handwriting we don't know). Instead of Clair it all said Chair. It's the thought that counts, right?

    Also, my grandma had a personalized ornament made with all her grand kids and great grand kids and she left my name off of it. My brother went and wrote my name in with black pen. She was definitely not in her right mind (dementia) when this happened.

    DH's aunt (his dad's brother's wife) got us this doozy of a picnic basket for my wedding shower:

    Needless to say, we've NEVER used it. I finally just dumped it at Goodwill a couple of weeks ago. Trying to sell it on Craigslist for like 1/4 of it's worth didn't even work!

    She also got us, for Christmas that same year right before my shower, a wreath. It was all woven branches with these cheap, fake white flowers in bunches all over it and a huge white satin bow on the bottom.

    @brij2006 I liked those games, well at least for a while! Maybe he was trying to get you into games?

    @emeraldeyed315 I think I would rather have socks than chocolate. What is it with the ILs?

    @Uptowngirl2009 Aww, I wouldn't worry too much if your grandma had dementia. At least she didn't butcher your name completely - I guess a bright side.

    @Luckyangel07 Is it sad that I kinda like that? Its tacky but, idk there is something about it that strikes me as funny. Maybe that's why I like it.

    Haha! I'm glad you get a kick out of it! I mean, the IDEA of going on a cute, romantic, couple's picnic with wine and snacks is great. The thought of actually seeing someone walking through the park with a white, heart-shaped, wicker picnic basket with the frilly sheet and napkins? About as far from an image of myself and DH as you can get, lol!

    My MIL annnnnd my stepmother both insist on getting me clothing all the time. Stepmother buys me everything is XL, which, while I'm definitely not a small, it's a little insulting. MIL buys me old lady clothes. Stop, just stop.

    So it's not a gift, but the bridal and baby showers that DH's family friends threw for me were less than stellar. I wasn't taken into consideration at all when it came to food. There's no way I'd ever eat the sandwiches, I don't drink tea, and most sides were not things I'd eat. I ate a mini quiche, some chips and dip, and cake and another dessert. Then I went to McDonald's after. Thanks for the shower, but maybe ask someone what food I might actually like? Just a thought. (I sound ungrateful, sorry.)
