Pregnant woman on raw food diet

I saw this on my news feed this morning.  What do you all think about her diet and how it will affect her pregnancy and future baby?

Re: Pregnant woman on raw food diet

  • I've been thinking about seriously changing my diet to more of a raw foods diet, but I would still have lean proteins like chicken and turkey.  I think this kind of diet would actually be great for my body and would be a great diet to stay healthy while pregnant.

As for her diet, I think it's a little weird that she can down 10 bananas for one meal, but not necessarily bad for her or her baby.  If her doctor says shes healthy and gaining the proper weight and providing the right nutrients with her diet to her baby, then I don't see a problem with it.

  • I don't really see a problem with it as long as she is being monitored by a doctor and is getting the right amount of proteins and vitamins for the baby.

  • I didn't read the article but I can't imagine the constipation of eating ten bananas as one meal.
  • 10 bananas is like 1,000 calories. Why? How can she fit that many bananas in her belly? I'm vegan (ok ok, like 80% of the time. Because, cheese.) but I've never considered eating more than one of the same fruit for a meal. Mono-meals are not healthy IMO, you need a complex combination of vitamins and minerals that eating 10 whatevers won't give you. And the sugar! Gah! And also, while I'm on a roll here - you need FATS to function, and to grow a human. I mean literally, our brains need fat. So maybe this is a self-perpetuating issue... raw fruit diet leads to low fat brain leads to believing raw fruit diet is a good idea leads to low fat brain leads to....
