Holiday Traditions (making & breaking them!)

Did you start any Holiday traditions with your SO? Do you just follow the same ones of one of your families?

Usually, we would go with my mom and siblings to her best friends house on Christmas Eve. This year, and for the years to follow we've decided to make Christmas Eve our time - as we both come from blended families, and Christmas day is HECTIC and so there is just no time for just us.

I'm just trying to think of some fun ideas for us to do on our own? We were thinking like hot chocolate and Christmas movies? Just I feel like there has to be something more fun!

We don't have any kids, so it would just be for the two of us.

Any ideas?

Re: Holiday Traditions (making & breaking them!)

  • My hubby and I exchange our gifts on Christmas Eve night and then watch a Christmas movie by the fire with all the Christmas lights on. It's romantic, and like you said, it's kind of the 'calm before the storm.' Our favorites are "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Love Actually." :)
  • @cclejeune That sounds so lovely! I like that! I'll have to talk to the mister about that! Thanks! :)

I think that sounds heavenly! Our Christmases are definitely our own thing. We have Christmas at our house now and both my family and DH's come so it's a little crazy, but I wouldn't change a thing :)
