Re: Confession Thursday

  • I confess that I am overwhelmed by being a grown up.  I find myself struggling with the day to day stuff like laundry, dishes, etc.  How do people do it?  Also, we have so much we want to do: buy a house, new cars, go on a vacation before having kids...I don't know where to start.

I know I'll look back on this time in our lives as fun, largely responsibility-free, and fun (no kids, no car payments, no mortgage), but it's actually kind of stressful!

  • 1 - I'm listening to Classical Christmas on Pandora.  I'm stresssed out from work, TTC (still nothing, not even spotting now) and I'm getting sick.  Christmas songs is my happy place today.

2 - now we can tag, I'm starting to memorize everyone numbers on their screennames.

  • I confess that I slept terrible last night and I woke up feeling awful. So, I'm taking the day off when I could have just gone in a bit late.

I kinda went through something like this when H and I moved in together.  Before, I was living on my own and only had to take care of me and then once we moved in together, I had H and two small children to take care of.  It was a major adjustment and I am still trying to figure out ways to make "life" easier.

I think the key is routine and organization.  Whether it's laundry, paying bills, cleaning, whatever - just come up with a plan and stick to it.  After a while, it will become like second nature.  This is a big reason we are redoing our laundry room.  It was a disaster doing laundry every time and it made us not want to do it, which in turn we'd fight over and cause more stress.  So, we planned out a design that would make everything easier and now (even though it's not 100% done), it's such a breeze to keep up with the laundry.

  • I have a few confessions today:

    1) I'm going to acupuncture tonight and I'm so nervous about it I could pee in my skinny jeans.

    2) I'm soooo going to try to take a picture of myself with a bunch of needles sticking out of me.  I would find it hilarious later.

    3) I've been in a really goofy mood the last couple of days. I'm acting like a certified weirdo.  My friends think I'm losing it....

  • @Seipel12 - you must share your picture if you are successful!!

I agree with @ystaalenburg - organization is key!

When we had the kids this summer I got 2 baskets out for lights and darks. Once one was full I threw in a load in the wash. It was so much better than spending all Sat or Sun morning we kept it up. I'll throw a load in the morning when a basket is full, and H moves it over when he goes home, and we fold together. I need a third basket now for "heavy darks" now it's colder, hoodies, jeans etc, otherwise will would be doing those every other day!

H does dishes, I cook, I sweep mop and he vacuums. We found a good balance. Once a month I clean clean and the rest of the time we just pick up.  I figure my clean cleaning equals his yard work (mowing and shoveling).  And Saturday mornings I go through the paper bills and write out the checks, and mail them Monday morning.

  • I would also like to confess that my "one" glass of wine last night is really kicking my butt at work today.  I'm not sure I'm going to stay awake, I wish I would have stopped at one glass for real...
  • I confess that I check the Nest was too often.  I think I check it more than Facebook now....  Same for the Bump.
  • I confess I am the least emotional person ever. I didn't even cry when I heard the heartbeat on Tuesday. What is wrong with me?

  • @sjs1013, I'm embarrassed how much I'm on these sites. My h asks why my phone is always so low at night! Lol

My confession, I'm seriously considering changing jobs again and going back to my old company. I don't like my current small company or the work, and this is the 3rd time I've been asked to come back to the old company, so i think that window will close at some point. I'm torn! I left for a reason but it was my only company out of college , and I wonder if I would enjoy it more now that I know there aren't greener pastures, so to speak. But of course doing this while TTC isn't probably the wisest thing. My original plan was to wait until after maternity leave and reevaluate but who knows when that will be at this point. I need to decide by tomorrow though. Someone run my life please!!

  • @sjs1013 I check frequently, as well. :) It's hard to at work, I don't like dealing with websites on my phone. I like that we actually have conversations, whereas with facebook it's just "hey, let's see what so and so is griping about yet again" which is why I try and make my posts positive.

  • @ystaalenburg I couldn't get a picture, but I'm pretty sure I had over 30 needles sticking out of my legs, back, neck and back of the head!
  • @lwoehlk I would go back to your old place if I were you, it sounds like you might regret it if you don't.  And you can't really control the TTC thing anyhow, so it's not like you're being dishonest or whatever since you don't know exactly when all that will happen.

  • @Seipel12 How was the whole experience?  I've always wanted to try acupuncture, but I'm horrified of needles!

  • @Seipel12 How was the whole experience?  I've always wanted to try acupuncture, but I'm horrified of needles!
It wasn't too bad.  There was one needle that hurt really badly but the rest were fine.  It doesn't really hurt it does a weird tingle sensation.  It feels more like a tattoo, that's really the best way to describe it.  Today I feel great I would recommend trying it.
  • @Seipel12 and @ystaalenburg I love acupuncture!  I used to go for eczema.  I would sleep like a baby the night I had a treatment.  It helped my eczema also, but never completely cleared it up.

@Seipel12, were you at least able to lay down?  I used to have needles in my front and back so I had to sit in a chair, it would be torture.  Did your doctor do cupping also?  That was always entertaining for me,
  • @sjs1013 Yeah, they were all on my back so I totally fell asleep, and last night I slept really well.  She didn't do cupping I don't think but after the treatment she out these beads on my ears and finger on the most tender spot.  She told me to wear them for the next 2 days and press on them when I think about it.  She then pressed on them and said, "More pain better," as I jumped across the table.  I was not a fan of that part but the rest of it was awesome.
  • @Seipel12 what are the beads for?
  • I love acupuncture !! I used to say it was the most relaxing 30 mins of my whole week! There was always a few that I felt but nothing too bad.

I'm not sure there was a bit of a language barrier.  I'm pretty sure their only purpose was pain.  lol!
