Book Recs

I just finished my book so let's do a book recommendation blog!

I just finished Dark Calling by Cheryl McIntyre -This has all kinds of supernatural in it and I loved it! From Demons to Angels and Watchers etc. I couldn't stop reading it because I NEEDED to know how it ended.

What about you?

I also was reading the Maze Runner series that I really liked.  I think the author is James Dashner.

Is it sad that I really want to read the HP series again and we have all of them in hardcover.  But I'm a Kindle snob now, and I don't want to have to hold that heavy book in my hands while reading it.

I am reading Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson and I like it a lot so far.

  • Some books I've read fairly recently:

The Casual Vacancy (JK Rowling's latest book, but under the name Robert Gallbrath (or something like this)

Kitchen Confidential - Anthony Bourdaine (excellent book)

I'm currently reading the Hunger Games book series before seeing the next movie ;)

  • I just finished Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan, and A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray.  Both YA and pretty easy reads, and enjoyed both.

Currently reading To Marry an English Lord by Gail MacColl due to the Downton Abbey connection.  I'm not very far in yet but it seems a little dry so far.

To anyone who wants to read Harry Potter on Kindle, if you have Prime, it's available to borrow for free as part of the Kindle Lending Library (catch is that you have to have an actual Kindle and not just the Kindle app). That's how I read the series this year. Rereads are definitely not sad and are in fact encouraged!

Excellent choice. It's amazing. I was so angry at the ending, but I wasn't mad at the narrator or the girl; it was another character, but I don't want to ruin it for you. I hope you enjoy it!

  • Some books I've read fairly recently:

The Casual Vacancy (JK Rowling's latest book, but under the name Robert Gallbrath (or something like this)

The Casual Vacancy is JK Rowlings first adult novel written under her name. The Cuckoo's Calling is her most recent book which is written under the pseudonym Robert Gailbreth.

Casual Vacancy is very VERY different from the HP series and many did not like it. I did, but I see why many didn't.

The Cuckoo's Calling, while definitely not HP is getting better reviews than Casual Vacancy. I did enjoy this one more even though it isn't a genre I typically pick up :-).

I am currently devouring all of Susannah Kearsley's books. Favorite so far may be The Winter Sea or The Rose Garden.

I have also recently enjoyed The Peach Keeper and The Hangman's Daughter to name a few. Very different books but both interesting.

Hahaha!  I bought RPO for DH last Christmas because everything I'd heard suggested he'd like it.  As soon as he finished it, he plopped it on my lap and said, "You have to read this!"  It's currently being loaned out to DH's uncle to read and we bought it for my brother for Christmas this year!  It's just so good!
