Lots of Questions Today

I guess reality is really really setting in this weekend!

Besides the nursery, what did you have set up/put together/prepped for when you got home from the hospital?  The 0-3 months clothes, hats, mittens,  all crib sheets and blankets are washed and ready.  Otherwise, I got nothing!  What should be ready?  Really thinking I should have read some books right about now :/

Re: Lots of Questions Today

  • Ummm, I still don't have the nursery set up :/

If you are bf, it is good to have supplies ready to go, including easy to grab snacks. Some people like to have freezer meals prepped for when you come home. Obviously, make sure that your car seat is installed.

  • I didn't have anything extra prepped but since being home, I now have a whole set up in our room for him that I didn't have prior to. He sleeps in a bassinet next to my side of the bed so my nightstand now has a basket full of diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream, paci wipes, extra paci, bottles, formula and my pump is there as well. I also have extra outfits and blankets/burp cloths below the bassinet in case of accidents.

The first few nights I was running back and forth from our room to his nursery for things and now I have all of his needs set up and organized for night time/early mornings.

Oh, and the bottle drying racks and soap. I have one set up in our bathroom upstairs and one in the kitchen so I don't have to take the same ones up and down throughout the day.

  • ^I had a list similar to Madeline. I put the hospital bag in the car and tried to keep up really well with dishes and laundry so they would be done or almost done of she decided to come on her own.

  • Oh and have some nursing pads at home whether you're nursing or not. My milk came in with a vengeance overnight and after that if anyone poked them even a little I'd leak.

  • I had everything done that I could have done.

Newborn clothes were washed and ready. 3 month clothes were washed (but packed away) in case they were needed.

Anything that needed to be sterilized (pacifiers) was sterilized.

Everything was assembled, set up and ready to go.

  • The crib was set up, and the car seat base was installed. We had some clothes from our neighbors, but I didn't get as much done as I wanted because I thought I had more time.

I've already got at least 2 weeks' worth of freezer meals ready and we will be rearranging our room for the PNP this weekend. I have clean NB clothes and also 0-3 all set. I think we'll wait to sterilize bottles and nipples until we get home and see how bfing is going, but we have all of that stuff.

I'm half convinced this baby will come late just to spite me since I'm prepared.

  • Besides what everyone listed, make sure you have diapers (duh), maxi-pads for you.  Definitely get the overnight ones.  If you're going to breastfeed, make sure you have some lanolin.  Get some nursing tanks too.  I lived in those in the beginning.

  • The 0-3 months clothes,
Do you have NB size?  No way twins are going to wear 0-3 right away.

Like TR said, we had a set up in our room (our PnP has an organizer thing attached to it) with dipes, wipes, swaddle blankets, paci, burp coths so we didn't have to leave our room in the MOTN.  I also had a nursing basket with burp cloths, nipple cream, nursing cover, snacks, and water bottle.  I carried that and the boppy from the bedroom to the glider in the living room in the morning and then back to the bedroom at night.
