My Craft Sale Career is Over

I attended my second craft sale of the month yesterday and it sucked. After paying for the table, I made $70. Totally not worth wasting a Saturday, nor my time crafting.

I guess the world just isn't ready for my crafts

I'm sorry to hear you didn't do as well as you had hoped for.

Do you usually do pretty well? I set up at vendor shows with Tastefully Simple around this time of year. It is hit or miss depending on how it is advertised, the type of people coming in, and what people are expecting. You can sell a lot at one show, and have the next one be a dud. If you normally do pretty well at other shows, then don't give up. Just don't do this one again next year.

I think for quilts the market may be more with custom orders, I've been thinking of working on building up a collection to try selling at some of our cheaper local craft shows, but I don't really know.

I've only done two; November 2nd and yesterday. I just couldn't be bothered to try again. I value my free Saturdays way too much

I don't. The shipping would be expensive, and if I was taking orders, I would feel like it was something I had to do rather than something I wanted to do.

Aw man I'm sorry it didn't go well. Your crafts are awesome, especially your quilts. I think you'd make a killing if you sold them online but if your heart isn't into that then it wouldn't be worth it in the long run. Don't let this get you down though, you're amazingly talented.

There's nothing wrong with that. No sense in continuing if it's going to make you not enjoy it.

Does your area have those local Facebook exchanges where people buy and sell stuff? You could make some and list them on there.

I sent one to Connecticut and it was $15, so two would likely a be a bit more. Perhaps I over -exaggerate a bit because Canada Post annoys me greatly.

What a bummer! Sorry it didn't go well. Did anyone at least express interest and take your information so they can contact you down the road to see what you have? It's be such a shame to waste your talent, but if your heart isn't into custom orders, don't do it. You know what's best for you. Totally agree that you could make a killing on GP and GPM; even with shipping costs!

My MIL and her bff started making holiday mesh wreaths last year. They did a couple of church craft fairs in the last month and did horribly! The wreaths are really pretty too! I think craft fairs can be hard since the chances of your target demo making up the majority of fair-goers can be slim.
