Presidential Challengers- Come in!

Hey! How is your presidential bio reading coming?

I just started my LBJ biography today. I am doing one of the American Presidents Series books because there isn't much out there on him. There is one giant, like 7 volume set, but I just can't do it. lol.

Anyway, I went in today and caught up with as many reviews as you guys have sent me, so if you want to go over to the blog and make sure that I'm all caught up with the reviews you've done, that'd be awesome. Let me know if there's anything I need to update.

  • I WISH there was something for you to update from me.  I am about halfway through the John Adams bio.  I picked the David McCullough one and while it's great, it's also like 800 pages and I have not been picking it up as much as I should be!  I will finish this challenge but it's going to take me about 20 years, apparently.
Kristen's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)

This is me too, but I'm planning it that way.  I'm in no rush to get through them all, and I really don't want to burn out or get tired of it.  I've only read Washington so far.  I'm thinking I'll start the McCullough Adams book around Christmas or New Years.
  • I've done one a month for almost three years. I think I've avoided burn out by  mixing it up between really long bios and some shorter ones. Reading a lot of long ones back to back wears me out quickly.

I'm with you guys. I'm only about halfway through the Washington bio but I really do love it. I'm making sure I finish it by the end of December and then hopefully someone buys me the Adams book for Christmas :)
  • I've just started my Lincoln bio.  To everyone who feels stuck at the beginning:  once you get past Jackson it goes really fast for 7 presidents or so.  All the founding fathers have these huge biographies available to read, but no one bothered to write a lot about presidents like Taylor or Fillmore.  150 page bios read a lot faster than the 800+ page behemoths about the first presidents.

  • My next bio will definitely be a shorter one...even though I'm really enjoying the John Adams bio and constantly singing tunes from 1776 whenever I read it.  (I'm obnoxious and disliked, you know it's true...for God's sake, John, sit down!)

  • I haven't reviewed anything since before Chester Arthur.  I have my Taft bio waiting in the wings but I am putting it offf because it looks like a stinker.  There was a really craptastic selection for books on Taft.

Lol, poor dude. These covers are terrible.
That's the one I read. Equally as awful.

  • @jackiback I should have taken a cue that the book would be a stinker based upon the author's name Judith "Icke" Anderson.

  • God. I'm so behind. I have GOT to get back on this train in December. @jackiback you MUST hound me constantly next month, okay?
