Should I count this as my period?

I went off birth control in June, and AF has been fairly consistent since then.  I was due for it this weekend, but all I got was a tiny bit of bright red spotting on Sunday night followed by nothing, which is unusual.  AF usually lasts at least three days for me.

I've taken three ICs, all BFNs.

Should I keep waiting to see if the rest of AF shows up / CD60?  Declare this my period and Sunday was CD1?  Something else?

Re: Should I count this as my period?

  • have you been charting?

I wouldn't consider your spotting AF.

  • I haven't been, no - just using a very unscientific app that's correct  about when AF is going to show up within 1 - 2 days (it said starting on Friday). :\

  • According to FF CD1 is the first day that you need to use a pad/ tampon. I would not consider that as your period, sounds like spotting. You could just be having an unusual cycle with breakthrough spotting. Just because that app is usually right for you, doesn't mean it will be right 100% of the time. The only way to be sure of when your period is going to come is by temping/charting.

This is true.  Probably more my wishful thinking that it was CD1 more than anything... thank you ladies.

  • Spotting doesn't count as AF.  I would keep waiting/testing weekly until it shows.

  • Ditto PPs. If you're just using a random app that doesn't take any signs into account, it's not going to be accurate if something in this cycle was different.

I had two completely regular cycles after coming off BC. Then my body said "F you!" and I had a 44 day cycle. I was only marking my periods at that point, so I had no idea what was going on. Only now can I look back and know that I must have O'd a lot later.

my body did exactly this last month, lol!

OP, I would consider it spotting and give it another week or so.
