Black Friday Shoppers

So, The talk in 10 Things Tuesday got me thinking...

Do you Black Friday Shop?  Will you go out on Thursday?

I just got a pop up on my phone that Wal-Mart is honoring competitor's Black Friday prices this Friday 11/22/13. Now that is a spin to Black Friday!! I feel like it won't be long and Black Friday will be a thing of the past. They are already trying to turn it into Black Thursday which just makes me sad. In more ways than one.

Re: Black Friday Shoppers

  • Never been big on the Black Friday shopping. I will definitely not be doing any shopping on Thanksgiving (especially since we'll probably be with the IL's for the early/mid afternoon portion of the day, and then head over to my dad's a little later, since they always eat late and I can score some more of my faves with them. :)

  • I definitely shop Black Friday!  It's "The Chica" tradition!  (Me, my mom, my aunt, my cousins, and my new SIL call ourselves the Chicas.  Ha!)  We DO NOT go out on Thursday.  That's ridiculous if you ask me.  We like to spend the holiday with our family.  In fact, we just go out for the experience.  We get a lot of shopping done, but we tend to not even get to the mall until 10:30-ish.  All the crazies are gone by then.  :)  We just enjoy the day together and some of our best memories together are from Black Friday.  :)

I once went shopping on black friday with my sister and i'll never go again. and the only reason I went was because she was in town visiting and HAD to get her shopping done. it was so obnoxious with the lines and people pushing each other to buy crap!

I do howevery shop on cyber monday!

  • I go out around lunch time on Black Friday, the sales are still decent and there's a lesser chance of me losing my temper in a huge crowd. Plus, I don't feel like getting shoved by the crazies.

I refuse to go out on Thanksgiving. I think it's ridiculous that stores are opening and I'm actually basing some of my shopping based on not going to these stores for any larger items. No one working retail should have to leave their family on a holiday for me to save some money. In fact, if I need something and I'm making Thanksgiving dinner we just go without it because I won't even run to the grocery store. I judged my SIL and BIL hardcore for going out last year on Thursday.

  • @jennahack - I agree. My sisters and I go out on Friday. We do it for the experience and the memories as well. It's kind of a tradition now. We are not the crazies who are out there pushing, running, whatever to get something. We are usually the ones standing there staring with our jaws dropped at how some people, adults will act over material things. It's crazy.

  • I will go Black Friday shopping, but I go a couple of hours after the stores open.  Somehow I seem to still get the items I was looking for, and I love getting them at a discounted price.  Last year I did some online and just ordered it.  That was awesome!

As far as Thursday shopping. I refuse to.  I'm 100% against it, and will only online shop for the Thanksgiving day deals.  I don't think it's right that these stores are opening Thursday night, and I don't want to be one of the ones supporting it.

  • A few years back me, my mom and my sisters all went to Target at opening just for the experience mainly. The line went all the way around the store. It was insane.

I won't be going this year. I have almost all my shopping done, and what I have left I won't get any cheaper on Black Friday, so I'll just be enjoying the day at home with DH and DD. I'll probably put our tree up.

  • I can't begin to explain how upset it makes that stores are starting sales that early! Our Thanksgiving dinner isn't until 3, I'm hoping BIL won't end up having to work so he won't miss out. I've only gone out once, it was the first time I was off for Black Friday (and wasn't sick, had my gallbladder removed one year and had no motivation to go out), but didn't go till like 8 so I missed the crazy.
