Thank You gift for your Realtor?

Hi again
Our realtor has been awesome! He even let us into the house over the weekend so we could take a few measurements, even tho we don't close for a few more weeks. I just feel like he went above and beyond, and yeah I know he is getting a super awesome commission, but I want to do something nice as a thank you.
I have a slightly different relationship with him, since I take care of his son at daycare, so we know each other on a slightly more personal basis than just realtor/home buyer.
DH and I were thinking of getting him a nice thank you card and a gift card to something he might enjoy (I can always ask his wife what his interests are), but our default would be to just get him one of those prepaid credit card gift cards. I know that it's spending money that we could better use towards new furniture or other necessary things for the house, but I feel like he really deserves something.

Did any of you give a thank you to your realtor?
~Jenny~

Re: Thank You gift for your Realtor?

  • We did! I felt the same way about ours as you do yours, minus the knowing him personally before house shopping. He was really great--he drove 30 mins each way to show us houses multiple times a week, often in the evenings after work, and really just went above and beyond. He is an avid golfer so I put together a small golf gift basket for him (based on pre-made golf themed gift baskets that you can buy online). If you know his interests, you could do something like that, but I don't think he'd complain about getting a gift card either. :)

  • I like the gift basket idea or something more personal like that. He's already getting a commission, a prepaid Visa is the same thing.

I had a bunch of work done this year and plan to send then contractors subway gift cards so the crew can have lunch on us.
  • Yeah I also like the idea of a gift basket, and it's funny that one of you ladies mentioned golf. DH said something about a golf basket and I thought it was a random idea, but I'm not sure if our realtor golfs or not. I'll have to ask his wife when she drops of their kiddo at daycare tomorrow.

  • I think the nicest thing you can do is pass his name along to your friends, and speak up whenever you hear someone mention real estate. Referrals are always welcome!
  • I will absolutely for sure be recommending him to anyone I know who wants to buy a home.

  • Oh yeah, the PP reminded me--if he has a profile on Zillow (I think they almost always do), write him a glowing review. Ours had never had a review submitted, which gave me some reservations prior to our meeting (he was recommended by our loan officer--long story). After working with him, I can't believe no one else has given him positive reviews, but it isn't something everyone thinks to do.

Along those same lines, if you're sent a survey from his agency after you close, take the time to fill it out. I just printed out my Zillow review and sent it to them.

  • @Janessadawn I checked Zillow and the company he works for and he has not filled out his profiles on either place so there is no way to review him. He only does realty part time, so maybe that's why. But I will absolutely recommend him to anyone I know who is looking.

  • Its nice idea to give gift card as you doesn’t know much about his interest.

  • We gave our realtor a gift card to dinner and a bottle of wine. She really appreciated it!
