Have you ever "read" a cookbook?

Re: QOTD 11/20
Um no, I've searched through for yummy ideas, but know I just pin everything haha.
But my college roomate cooked her way through one. She started with only having appetizers for dinner, then soups, salads... etc. I think she had some serious issues. But the end of the 3 years (it started soph year), she was just eating desserts.
For all you that don't measure I have a funny post for you. My sister asked my mom for her stuffing recipe and my mom said to add sage until it looked good. My sister then asked "What's until it looks good." And this was my mom's response:
So you can see sage on the bread, but not so much that the bread is green. If you pick up some bread and taste it, you should be able to lightly taste the sage, but not burn your throat with it. I grab it (the sage) and shake a little on after every 5 or so pieces of bread. Just enough to put some green on that layer.
When I asked for her potato salad recipe she told me to mix it until it was the same yellow as the walls in her kitchen. I can never mimic any of her recipes because she measures absolutely nothing!
Bahaha - this reminds me of a story too! My roomate in college had a Friendsgiving type dinner for us one night, a year or two after we graduated. She used her grandmother's stuffing recipe. It was all measured in teacups. Well, friend used her coffee mug... we had SO MUCH STUFFING! It was delicious though!!!!
