  • Hahahahaha!!!  If one of my girls brought home a slip like that, I'd give them a high five!  :)
  • I completely love the volunteer as tribute one!  If I were a teacher, I'm not sure I could bring myself to give that kid detention.
  • My kid would be getting a second helping of pie if they came home with that detention slip :)

  • I really want to hear that kid that yells "That is MAHOGANY!" I also believe that's the best line to be added to a movie that started as a book.

  • That's hysterical.

  • DH and I are both teachers.. while I haven't gotten any of these, occasionally DH will get a kid who will yell "I volunteer as tribute!" when he asks for volunteers.  I guarantee none of them have ever gotten a detention.. more often a smile and a high five on their way to the front of the room.

Pretty sure the only one of these I would punish would be the Muggle one.. because that's just mean and offensive! :P

It's not offensive! Not everyone can be a witch/wizard! ;)
One of the places I saw it said, "It's not like the student called her a 'mudblood'"

  • I got a lunch detention for reading once.  Not sure what I was supposed to be doing - I had finished the assignment...

I've had kids do the volunteer as tribute thing.  I usually laugh, or roll my eyes.  I would only give them a detention if that was like... the 3rd disruptive thing they'd done that day.
  • I feel like I'd have offered extra credit instead of detention lol.

  • Those are hilarious!

In high school, I got detention because I was called to the guidance counselors office to review my "college planning" document/ make sure I submitted all of my college applications on time. My teacher didn't believe me even when I gave her my hall pass from the office. She ended up double checking everything and apologized to me when i was sitting in detention -- the second she apologized I asked if I could leave... She told me that if I got out of my chair she would give me detention again!

  • I got in trouble all of the time for reading. Never actually had a detention though.

  • I saw this on pinterest, and these were two of the best comments I saw from others.

"I wish one of my students would call me a muggle. Then I could whip out my wand and prove them wrong. Then tell them to turn to page three-hundred and ninety four."

to the tribute one, someone said, "I would have said, "And may the odds be ever in your favor."

As a teacher, I can see how these things could be disruptive and ruin a lesson....but I would probably just laugh right along with the class.....at least the first time it happened.
