Anyone want to give some fashion advice? This weekend we have a wedding, and I bought a dress for it but have no idea what to wear with it. Keep in mind that it's November in Chicago, and the high is in the 30's for the day of the wedding. So I'm expecting to be cold all day.

The dress is like the first image (color and style), but has the length of the 2nd dress. I have a set of long pearls that I plan to wear with it to dress it up a bit, but what leggings/tights/nylons and boots/shoes should I wear with it? What would look good?
I was thinking to wear black nylons and my black pumps with it (or I have neude colored pumps). This is a pretty formal wedding for a lawyer's daughter. So I know everything is going to be strict etiquette and formal. H is also standing up in the wedding. So I know there will be pictures taken of us.

I'm open to any ideas.

Oh dang, I'm not sure. Never been in 30 degree weather, other than up in the snow. Brrrrr

Maybe do all black and with the pearls, and some cute pearly bracelets?? Or colored shoes?

If it's a traditional wedding/crowd, I would stick to black nylons and pumps. With that burgundy dress I am sure will look pretty! And I second Cloudymeatballs...that is WAY too cold for me. Have fun! I love going to weddings. DH hates it, lol and he is in a wedding for his cousin next spring.

Lol, I totally missed the colored dress. Ya I would probably stick with the black and black and just dress it up more with the pearls. You will look so purdy!

Should I maybe put a belt with it or something? Or would that dress it down too much?

I don't like colored tights for formal events. But that is me.

So I would do nude tights with black or silver pumps. And a dressy scarf for the wind. (obviously a jacket too)

I'm not a big belt with dress kind of person. I can never get them to look right. Are you wearing a cardigan or coat over it? It's not an outdoor wedding right??

I agree on black nylons and pumps with the pearls. I probably wouldn't add a belt.

I wasn't going to wear a cardi over it since it has long sleeves. Thankfully the material of the dress is a bit thicker. So it should be warm. But I just don't want my exposed legs to get cold (I'm a wimp living in the midwest, I know).

Thankfully the wedding and reception are both indoors, but she's demanding outdoor pictures. Which I know I will have to stand around and wait for since H is standing up in the wedding, and I don't really know anyone else except the guys that are standing up (all of their wives aren't coming because they can't stand the bride).

Black tights and Pumps. I wouldn't do a belt because that seems too casual for me. The pearls and some bracelets would be cute. Also bring your jacket for outside and scarf, even with thick material and cardi that still sound freezing!!!

No leggings or tights to something formal. I would do nude hose. You could do black heels, or you could wear something a bit more "fun" on your feet because the dress is solid.

@nfp147 Do you think nude pumps would look good with it? I'm a shoe girl, and usually wear something that accents rather than matches.

Ditto @nfp147. You can find thicker nude stockings if you don't want to do totally sheer. Then you can do black heels, especially if you've got a fun pair, or another color to go with the burgundy (oxblood, dark gray, even a nude shade with some sparkle to them).

How long are the pearls you're wearing? Do you have any multi-strand pearl bracelets you could wear with? I like the idea of the multi-strand bracelet over the long sleeve of the dress. A sparkly cuff bracelet would look fantastic too (like something with small jewels/rhinestones).

@luckyangel07 The pearls are double stranded, and go down to my boobs. The strands are full pearls and nothing else on them.

I have a small sparkly bracelet that has small pearls in it that I could wear. or should I do something more bulky? Would gold look good with the pearls? I have a wide gold bracelet that I could do with it that is shiny.

You can certainly wear whatever metal you'd like with the pearls. How wide is your sparkly bracelet? I'd tend to shy away from more delicate bracelets with the long sleeves; if your wrists were going to be exposed (ie, no have long sleeves on), I think a thinner bracelet would be fine.

Any chance you've got a gold collar-style necklace to wear with the dress rather than the pearls? Lemme see if I can find an example...

That one is gold and white, right? It's hard to tell in the pic, and I can never click on your Tiny Pics and see them bigger. I think that would look really nice with the burgundy dress and gold cuff, especially if you go with more of a nude/beige/sparkly shoe option with the nude stockings.

@luckyangel07 Yup, it has gold and off-white to it.

Maybe I'll pack both and decide from there. Although I like the more design the gold/white one has over the pearls.

Pretty dress!!!! I would go for some gold accessories. Gold earrings and a long gold chain with some jewels on them. That color is very in for fall and I would keep black (pantyhose??) and black shoes. Im 29, for what it's worth....I LOOOVE patterned fishnet stockings with a long skirt or dress (if its too short you will look like a hooker

)and classic black shoes, and either pearls or gold jewelry (but I think gold) if your dress is purplish/maroon, the opposite color on the color wheel from purple is yellow = gold. I'm sure you will look lovely either way!
