I have decided that I am going to work towards getting my LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor). I have the degree, and I have taken the national exam. I just need to take a special CO exam, and get 200 hours of supervision for 2000 of client contact. I have always considered it, but just felt last year as my first year in a school year was overwhelming. I think I found a supervisor. Another counselor in the district wants to do it together, so that is what has prompted me to jump on this. I can start to look at opening my own practice within the next couple years. I like my job a lot, but there is always the fear of being cut. I can do my counseling in the evenings as well, so I can still keep the school counseling job. It will cost me money to get supervised, get insurance, ect but J thinks we can make things work. Plus, it is revenu in as I go. Out here, I could probably get $60/hr per client. If I keep to 2 clients to start, then I think I can get things to even out for awhile.
I am pretty scared that it won't work out or that I will get overwhelmed.
Anyways, wanted to share it with you ladies and Mark first.
