Not to get ahead of Thanksgiving because I don't like to skip holidays, but...
this is the first Christmas in our first house (we moved in March) so this will be the first time I am for real decorating a tree! I bought this ornament last night (-EDIT- I can't seem to get the pic to upload, will try again later) at a local gift store. I am dedicating it to my angel baby sister. I though it was so pretty. I need to collect stockings, a tree skirt, etc...Christmas decor really adds up!

Do you all do a lot of Christmas decorating? (I will have to wait and see what all I have collected over the summer on discount...)

Do you put up lights on the house? (I don't think I could talk DH into it but I could be wrong)

Have you started decorating yet? (We are being a stickler and waiting until the weekend after Thanksgiving to go cut down a tree)

And the big question...

Real or fake? (tree)

We do outside- a coworkers dad got rid of a bunch of lights and I got them!!

Yup. (See above) and I will post pics after we are done! I love decorating outside.. Not as much inside. Just a tree and a few knick knacks.

Not yet. I've been on DH to start though!! (Maybe this weekend)

Real or fake? (tree)

Fake. I don't care for the hassle of real.

We put up a tree and decorate outside with lights, and I usually wrapt the posts for our front awning in red green and silver tinsel. Oh and stockings of course.

We put up white icicle lights on our house. Last year DH put up hooks while he put the lights up (instead of stapling them to the trim) so this year it will be super easy to put lights up.

We don't start decorating until after thanksgiving.

Our tree is fake.

Also I think it's really sweet you get an ornament to recognize your angel sister.

I just found out a few days ago that MIL had a miscarriage before she got pregnant with my H. She thinks she was somewhere around 2 months along. It was sad watching he get teary eyed when she mentioned it. I guess that pain never goes away.

We put up blue icicle lights outside. I love trees and want to do one in each room most years but this year I'm planning to go more simple and just do one.

I got an ornament to commemorate our losses. It says "Because someone we love is in heaven, a little bit of heaven is in our home."

I am thinking of decorating this weekend b/c I am bored. We have a teeny tiny fake tree. I also have homemade stockings that I sewed a couple years ago.

I love Christmas!

We do a little decorating inside, mostly the tree. I love the smell of a real tree! I don't mind vacuuming more often for a few weeks in exchange

We used to do exterior lights but they all got destroyed during The snow storms last year. We will probably do one string on the front for my own please bc you can't see our house from the street. I loooovvveee decorating the inside! I have a ton of stuff that my Aunt gave me and we have a fake tree that has the lights on it. I will probably start decorating after our Sheetrock is done.

I do a TON of decorating! I'm decorating tomorrow! I'm not putting up the tree, though.

We put candles in all the windows.

I grew up with a real tree, but we have a fake tree. I watched too many of those morning show specials where they show you how fast a real tree can go up in flames. Yikes!

Christmas is my favorite holiday to decorate for. This is our first in our house too, but we have outside lights and decorations from our rental. I'm sure I'll end up buying more though. Putting up the outside lights is my favorite part, and decorating the tree. DH helps some but I do most of the decorating myself and I really don't mind. I put on Christmas music, make hot chocolate and go to town. We do a real tree. DH would prefer a fake one, but I just love the smell of a real one and picking one out is always fun too. I'll be waiting until after Thanksgiving to start but it won't be too long after. Can't wait!

@sgautschi That's a good idea about the hooks!! I wouldn't mind having outdoor lights year-round on our front porch as it's pretty big and we have had people over to eat outside a lot in the summer. Also just random- I see your DD is named Adalyn-super cute, one of my cousin's daughters is 1 year old named Adelyn but they call her Addie!

@Flamingo86 I love that you shared that saying, it's beautiful. I want to write something on the back of my ornament but I don't know what yet, I might put that and then her name and birthday.

@GoodWolf You can't beat that smell of a real tree. I grew up with a real one until my sister was born and then we had to get a fake one ever since then because she's allergic

So now I can go back to a real one like my MIL does! Yay!

That's her nickname too!

Yeah if you had the hooks you could easily hang regular outdoor lights then switch them for Christmas lights.

We'll do outside lights (icicle) along the roof line, and we have a couple of net lights for bushes. I'd love to do more, but lights get espensive!

We get a real tree too. We'll pick it out a couple of weeks after thanksgiving and then I'll pull outthe bin full of decorations and lights. I only have a few things for around the house; most of it is the tree and ornaments.

Do you all do a lot of Christmas decorating? I love Christmas! I like to go all out in the house, and have added things each year. I'm trying to get DH to go for a "rustic Christmas" look this year. Basically I went antique shopping with my mom today and bought antlers and a bark covered cone tree. I think it would be awesome!

Do you put up lights on the house? Not usually. We don't have an outlet outside our house, so no lights.

Have you started decorating yet? Nope. I am a huge stickler for no Christmas before Thanksgiving. You better believe that all my decorations will be put out in Friday and it will be all Christmas all the time until January 1st.

And the big question...

Real or fake? (tree) fake. I'm allergic to real. I love my Christmas tree scented candle though.

Do you put up lights on the house? We did last year and I want to this year but not sure if we will or not. H isn't really up to it right now, but I think once he sees everyone else's house in the neighborhood with lights, he'll want to.

Have you started decorating yet? I usually wait until Friday after Thanksgiving, but we will be out of town this year, so I put it up yesterday. I literally won't have a free weekend until after Christmas to do it and I also wanted to be able to enjoy it right when we get back from Thanksgiving vacation.

And the big question...

Real or fake? Fake. We've always had a fake tree, even when I was growing up.

We put up a fake tree (I love real trees, but DH is allergic). We usually decorate the tree and maybe put a few more things around the house, but I definitely don't go crazy. We don't put lights up outside either. I refuse to decorate until after Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I hate that it is always overshadowed by Christmas!

We haven't started decorating yet, but definitely will. Inside at least. Not sure if I can convince H to put up lights. Lol, he said he would when we have kids. Booo i want them up. We will get a tree, I have to have a real one. I LOVE smell of xmas trees. So I will get a real one, I will deal with the vacuuming too. I love the decorating for this time of year it was always a fun time helping my Mom put up decorations as a kid. I look forward to this.

Christmas is the only holiday we decorate for. We do exterior lights and have several decorations that get spread throughout the house. It HAS to be a real tree. Actually just bought a Groupon today for the place we go to every year to cut our tree down. We won't start decorating until after Thanksgiving, though.
