Ninth Anniversary 2500 Comments 500 Love Its First Answer

We found out at a/s I have SUA. Single umbilical artery.  So most people have 2 arteries and 1 vein, mine only has 1 artery. My mfm and u/s tech said that they werent concerned, but it can lead to brain, heart, kidney and overall growth issues. The 1 artery kind of takes over for the missing one. Just one more thing to add to my list of stressors!

    I'm sorry, cuddle. My old roommate had this with her daughter and she's 5 now and hasn't had a single health issue. She was on the smaller side at birth, but that's it. I hope your little guy has no problems.

    I had this with my son. I was freaked out about it but they assured me that most often it's nothing. It doesn't CAUSE kidney/heart issues, from what I was told at my A/S, but often occurs along WITH kidney/heart issues. So if the kidneys and heart looked okay at your A/S, they will probably not be issues.

    My MFM/OB did send me for a growth u/s at 28 weeks, and a follow up at 34 weeks to make sure he was growing appropriately. He ended up being 8lbs 13oz so clearly he grew just fine.

    Try not to stress about it too much. My MFM said that it's so common it's really more of a "normal variation" than a problem, most of the time.

    Thank you ladies! I'm not really letting it stress me too much since my MFM said we were looking good so far. It's just crazy how many things can happen to one person, ya know? (sorry thats a little woe is me). I'm praying that we continue to get amazing ultrasounds!

    I'm sorry but like others have said, I hope it's not anything that's going to make a big impact.

    TTC since May 2010. DX Unexplained IF.  IUI #1 in August 2012. Clomid, Menopur plus Ovidrel. BFN.  IUI #2 in September 2012.  Clomid, Menopur plus Ovidrel.  BFN. IUI #3 in October 2012. BFN.  IVF in April/May 2013: BFP.  Due February 2, 2014 Thank you God!
