Re: Weekly Workout Check-In

  • Apart from deep cleaning the house this weekend, I took two rest days after being active 5 days last week.  My goal for this week is the same.

I was slow moving this morning, but I did manage to get in 20min of HIIT before work.

Tues - Tomorrow morning I plan to do 30 min of weights, then I am swimming in the evening.

    Wed - HIIT at lunch

Thurs - Treadmill intervals in the morning

    Fri - HIIT before work.

Weekend - probably yoga on Saturday

Healthy eating plan:  I have been making myself plain greek yogurt, chia seed and blueberry parfaits and having them prepped and ready to bring for breakfast.  I have fruit cut up and ready to go too for snacks.  I need to prep some veggies to bring for lunch and wash some lettuce tonight but otherwise its all about pulling something out the night before to make for dinner which is our worst problem - poor planning for dinner.  I always have meat and veg on hand, I'm just bad at defrosting it the night before and coming up with new ideas.

  • I feel I should answer these questions, but I'm ashamed of my answers.

This weekend included drinking, eating out, and no exercise.

This week will be better! My plan is to run the 5k loop Wednesday morning at 5am, and Thursday our running group is doing a 4 miler at 6am.
Then Saturday night is a 5k race through the local Christmas lights. It's on a hilly course so I'm not looking to get my personal best, but I will be happy to be around 33 minutes.

Still haven't decided what I want to do tomorrow and Friday, but hopefully it will include some weights or maybe 30 minutes on the elliptical at my parents.

As far as healthy eating.  I pulled out my Biggest Loser cookbooks last night, and I'm going to meal plan for the next 2 weeks with them (besides Thanksgiving of course).

  • This week is going to be interesting for me, to say the least.  It's usually the norm for me to be stuck at a desk all day, so workouts in the evening are easier to do.

Aside from the twice daily dog walks:

Tonight (Monday) - 20-30 minutes on the elliptical.
Tuesday - Resting as I will be walking a job site all day tomorrow (in the cold, cold rain) carrying equipment and talking readings.
Wednesday - Depending on how I feel from Tuesday's work, I may attempt the elliptical or bike for 20-30 minutes.
Thursday - 20-30 minutes of elliptical work before heading to my parents' for Thanksgiving.
Friday - 20-30 minutes of elliptical work.
Saturday - 20-30 minutes of elliptical work before mutton dinner.  :)
    Sunday - Rest.

As for eating, I have recently discovered a love for combining Greek yogurt with granola.  And Kind granola was on sale at the grocery store.  :)  I've been pretty darn good with tracking my food this past week (with the exception of Friday night's dinner), so I'm hoping to keep that up.  As I am a compulsive overeater, I am going to have to consciously stop myself from loading up my plate this week/weekend.  I think it's do-able as I have to bring an appetizer Thursday and a side dish Saturday.  Can you say healthy foods, anyone?

    I can do this!!!

  • Tonight's Torture Training Session with Luis.  I'll be on my own for the rest of the week, because our normal sessions are on Thursday and we won't be back in town yet. I'm going to see if he is around on Friday or Saturday, but not holding my breathe.

I am going to do well with eating so that I can PIG OUT on Thursday. I refuse to not eat a million scoops of stuffing and mashed potatoes and gravy just because I'm trying to lose weight.

  • I went to the gym tonight for 30 minutes and then stopped and got McDonalds on my way home...womp womp womp, but it was so delicious.

I do plan on going to the gym tomorrow and Wednesday as well so hopefully it evens out.

We're having Thanksgiving dinner at my in-laws and I don't think they are very good cooks so hopefully that'll stop me from pigging out too much.

  • I only made it 15 minutes on the elliptical (but did 5 minutes on the bike with a 5 minute walk each way).  Next time, I'm not eating dinner beforehand.  Bad idea.

  • Well, lol as of this weekend, I was way bad.  No exercise, actually the exact opposite.  Ate and drank bad all weekend.  But this morning, I started over, went for a run, plan on having pasta primavera tonight and bought a bunch of fresh fruit I cut up so I would eat that instead of chips and cookies. haha My weakness.  Thursday eating bigtime and I work the rest  of the weekend.  Wah wah wah.

I started jogging a few weeks ago and am very proud of myself for keeping it up.  I suck at working out...  @xan921 I do that way too often!  Lol, I will go to the gym then stop and grub, lots at McDs too...

  • Glad to hear there are definite action plans in place for this week.

I was supposed to wake up at 5:30 this morning and my sleep was so amazing last night I decided to extend it to 6am so I didn't have time to do anything this morning.  I am going swimming after work and will probably hit the treadmill tonight.

Tomorrow we're getting 25cm of snow, so looks like I'll be adding that to my Wed workout. Boo.

  • Can I join in? I'm about to start a work out regimen. I've been eating really healthy the past 2 weeks and will start working out next Monday. I am doing the T25 DVD's (from the makers for P90X, but it's only a 25 minute workout 5x a week). I would like to lose about 10lbs per month if possible.
I was doing T25 and it was amazing! It's only 25 mins, but you'll sweat like a beast!! I started seeing results (esp my tummy) in a couple of weeks. I liked the modifiers too. Good luck :).

  • Alright ladies, as everyone is recovering from their turkey comas, are you going to workout today?

I decided to sleep in this morning, so hopefully I can get myslef in gear to move after work.

I did do a workout on Mon, Wed and Thurs this week, so as long as I can get two more in by the end of the weekend, I'm satisfied with myself.

    Any successes this week?

  • I didn't workout today, but I did a 3 miler Wednesday morning, 4 miles yesterday, and tomorrow is our 5k race through the Christmas lights.
Sunday I really want to workout, but I'm not sure what to do.  Especially since I try not to run back to back. Maybe I'll do a yoga video.

  • I need to get back into my running. I shoot for 3 miles 3 times a week but I average twice a week. Lately it's been 2 weeks since I ran at all.... I'm hoping to break that in the morning. I feel so sluggish when I don't run and the weight goes back on so quick in such a short time when I stop!
