This was fantastic. You can tell the author learned at his father's feet. It was the perfect blend of supernatural, horror, and just all around excellent storytelling. The characters were well defined and empathetic, too, and I found the ending to be incredibly satisfying. I loved that Wayne doesn't immediately get his humanity back when Vic rescues him from Manx but that his father helps him to regain it by smashing the ornaments. The only real loose end was how does Tabitha describe these ageless children who've been missing for so long? This was my first book by Hill, and I will definitely be reading more of his writing in the future.
Re: WIJFR: NOS4A2 (sp)
Incidentally, both my friend and DH couldn't get into this book because they both felt like it was a Stephen King ripoff. They said they felt like they were reading a Stephen King book and I guess that bothered them. For me, I feel like, what's wrong with that? I love Stephen King. I think if I hadn't told them that Joe Hill was his son, they would've been fine - they both just held it against him somehow. Weird.
