Discuss ~ Mom Posts Bikini Selfie 4 Days After Giving Birth

This woman posted a picture on Instagram of her in tiny undies and bra four days after giving birth. It's caused a huge controversy. People have their pitchforks out, saying this woman "declared war" on other women.

Do you think the haters are right, or is that just another version of body-shaming?

ETA: A link helps lol.

Re: Discuss ~ Mom Posts Bikini Selfie 4 Days After Giving Birth

I saw this earlier. I really don't think it's possible for anyone to be that thin 4 days PP. Wouldn't anyone have extra skin? I think it's some kind of scam. I feel bad for women who struggle with weight issues and see this. Most likely they won't be thinking rationally because of hormones and this won't help their self image.

ETA- because I fail at words. :-(
  • I don't follow this person on any sort of social media, but a quick browse of her Instagram shows a lot of selfies and fashion pics.  I doubt there was anything more to this post that her usual self-loving posts.  She's proud of her body and looks post birth just as she was pre birth and pre pregnancy.

If she had never posted pictures of herself before then I'd side eye her posting this one.  Or is the picture was accompanied by some text attempting to "shame" others.  But it seems in keeping with her social media M.O.

  • I really don't even care. Good for her for looking so great! Now, if someone sent me this picture and asked why I didn't look like that, I would punch them in the face. Some people put a lot of stock in to their physical appearance. I just don't don't value the outside beauty as much as the inside. She does. Maybe people are jealous, I don't really know. I don't think it should really affect anyone except for her.

But what do I know? I post a picture on IG like every other month if that.
  • Yeah, I don't understand the complete bashing of her. Do the constant photos make me think that she is very shallow and looks-oriented? Yes (But who knows! I could be totally wrong!)

I think she looks amazing and if I looked like that, I would probably take pictures of myself in undies every day, too. But I wouldn't post them on InstaGram.

  • Well, at least she didn't post it and ask "What's YOUR Excuse?"

But honestly, I think she has every right to post this picture, even if it makes some women jealous. She didn't make any commentary (that I know of) that would shame another woman for not looking like that four days after giving birth. It just seems she was proud of her pre-pregnancy body just as she is proud of her post-pregnancy body. If she had been a little flabbier would people be just fine with it? Why is it not okay for her to post it just because she looks so good?

  • I think good for her for having the confidence to not be ashamed of her post pregnancy body.  Whether it be picture perfect or not.  If she usually was posting selfies in her bra and undies, then the people following her should be used to seeing this.

  • I think selfies are dumb, in general. And the fact that selfie is a widely recognized word makes me sad.

But the reality is, every body is different, especially post pregnancy. And during pregnancy. They mentioned that her bump was small, but that isn't really indicative of how much weight she did or did not put on during pregnancy.

So, I have no problem with it. I wouldn't go so far as to say everybody who does have a problem is jealous, but I see nothing wrong.

I see nothing wrong with this. Yes, selfies drive me crazy sometimes but she's not hiding who she is. Also, the words she posted with the pic about feeling empty, I think it made me almost feel bad for her. Almost. I could see how bouncing back as fast as she did now she can't even tell she was pregnant 5 days ago. I imagine that is very difficult. (Those who have given birth, please correct me if I'm wrong)

I have a hard time believing its real. Shouldn't she be wearing a XXXL maxi pad 4 days after birth? If it is real congratulations to her on her good genetics but I don't see anything wrong with her actions.

That's a good point. I actually like my stretch marks because it's a reminder of my pregnancy. I can imagine that I would have felt very disconnected if I had looked like my normal self immediately after birth. It's already hard enough to wrap my head around everything that's happened the past year.

  • Well, at least she didn't post it and ask "What's YOUR Excuse?"

Yes, I think this caption is what irked me the most about the last picture that got everyone's hackles up. (in general)

With this... my first reaction was "holy hell, put on some clothes" not OMG totes jealousE ... my second reaction was "how is this even possible?" Doesn't it take a while for your ute to shrink back down and stuff?

But in general, rock on, lady. Be proud of your body. I know if I ever have kids I sure as shit won't look like that 4 days PP (or before BFP, or before said child goes to college, lol.) but I'm ok with that. That's fine. That's me. I am not her, she is not me. So whatever. Do what you want, if putting bra and panty selfies on instagram makes you feel good, go for it. People aren't forced to follow or friend you on IG. :shrugs:
  • Meh, I don't really have a problem with it. It's no different than if a woman who DIDN'T bounce back after 4 days had posted a pic. She just happens to look amazing (and I hate her for it lol.. I'm kidding! good for her!) There's all kinds of post baby bodies out there! I can guarantee that if I ever get KU, my post baby body won't look anything NEAR that lol..

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

This was my response when I saw it.  I just can't believe it.

    A) Where are her granny panties to hold her super sized Depends pads?  I don't care how good you look in those undies, you would be a mess in two minutes.

    B) Her ute would still be huge 4 days post-partum and make her look a few months pregnant even if she was in super duper shape.  She is either lying that it was 4 days ago, or she mis-wrote 4 days and meant 4 weeks.  4 weeks I would believe.

    C) Photoshop? Good lighting?

Listen, I am the first to give a momma kudos for bouncing back after a baby but I just can not believe the photo to be true.  Even my best friend who is 110lbs with a barbie body took a few weeks for her ute to shrink down enough to stop bulging.

My thoughts exactly. I was "all baby" when I was pregnant with my son. I don't think it's humanly possible to be this toned and fit 4 days after a baby. The big boobs, that's a given, tones thighs and butt, sure, she's a fitness blogger, but the tummy? I have a hard time believe this. I don't care who you are, or what trainer and dietician you have, you will have SOME jelly belly 4 days PP. Hello, your abs get pulled apart and skin is a little saggy from the 9 months of stretching, and your ute is still large and just as PP have said, where is the grandma-nater underwear and belly button to butt-crack pad?? Even is she didn't gain a single pound in the pregnancy, I still don't know how her tummy can be this toned and cut 4 days PP.

However, if I looked this good at anytime, I would be proud and want to show off as well, but not in my undies for the entire internet to see. I have noticed that more and more people are into "clean eating" and working out, and that is great! I think we all should strive to be healthy and look great, so bashing her is for the insecure and jealous. It motivates me to want to work harder. No bashing, but is this for real??
  • I checked out her IG and she definitely had the babies four days before she posted the picture; however, I wonder if she used an old photo?

Maybe?? If so, that's awful! I feel like taking a selfie in my undies...3 years later after giving birth lol. I need to hit the gym.

  • I say good for her!  Not a lot of people can have a body like this right after giving birth, but some women are blessed with it.  She probably didn't gain much weight during her pregnancy and kept up on her exercise.  I wish I could even keep up on my work outs.  If I looked like this after having a baby I would be so proud of my body.  I probably wouldn't put a pic of myself up on Instagram or FB or whatever, but all power to her.

I think the people who keep bad mouthing her are just jealous.  We do whatever we can.  Some people have the time or make sure to make the time to work out, as some do not.  Just like some people easily stay thinner than some others.  Everyone is different and everyone should embrace themselves and be proud of themselves.  We all are who we are.  :)
